    Humorous headless bass anecdotes...

In my area I get, "It's been a long time since I seen one of those." Or "Is that a Stei...a stegg.....I know who makes them but can't remember the name." I rarely have someone approach me that doesn't know about a headless bass out here. All I do when I do encounter someone and they as I...

    Definitely not my weekend.

UPDATE. Well, the weekend being bad extended into that next work week. I got laid off from my new dealership job *was there just shy of one year* Really didn't sweat it though, I always have work one way or another, but the van being down really did annoy me. Got that fixed though. #5...

Why do people become product brand fanatics?

My sig? That's just my gear. But I'm not repping those brands. I'm repping the gear ;)

Why do people become product brand fanatics?

Just goes to show you how well branding works. I'm brand-biased on some things, and could give two sh**s about others. I intentionally try not to rep the brands I prefer.

    Definitely not my weekend.

Plenty of people have had worse weekends than the one I posted. I wasn't posting for sympathy or support, just wanted to let it out somewhere. So I chose here and Facebook. Over on Facebook it went a little different. Since I work at Chevy and drive Fords my co-workers kinda went in on the...

Help fund pressing an EP that I didn't play on?

If the investment can yield a profit that you're comfortable with then invest. If not, don't. Take your own ego out of the equation when it comes to business decisions. I am a diehard Ford man, owning 4 Fords of my own. I turn wrenches for a living at a Chevy dealership...

    Competing with Synth Bass

The bass guitar is still dominant in reggae music and I believe that will continue for on and on. Any reggae tunes with synth bass on the recording are normally reproduced with live bass when performing. I'm fortunate not to be in OPs position. Even if I did though, I really wouldn't care...

    Definitely not my weekend.

Yea I doubt I did. Everytime the coolant cleared from that one cylinder that was flooding the van ran smooth. When I pull the head I'll crank the engine over. Since it's a straight the cylinders have a twin moving in the same direction. If Cylinder 5's twin (I think it's #3) is the same height...

    Definitely not my weekend.

So I had two mishaps this weekend. First, my work van (1995 Ford E250, 4.9L I6, 280,xxx miles) pops her head gasket on the way to a job. Got there, shut her off, went to crank it over, hydro-locked. I'm a mechanic. I work at a dealership and I've had my van since 2011 and operate a mobile...

    Opposite Day! Strings you hate.

Tone is subjective. You're not right or wrong. It's all a matter of personal taste. Sometimes folks share our tastes, sometimes they don't. The world keeps on spinnin'. That's the beauty of it. We are not all destined to sound the same, for the Lordt giveth us knobs.

    Opposite Day! Strings you hate.

Not a fan of Chromes. Still got them on a bass cause I'm being too cheap to order another set of strings for it lol.

The same chord progressions again and again...

I couldn't play reggae music if I did. Love um.

    Are Expensive Basses Necessary?

It matters as much as you want it to. My basses are all sub $500 each. I get the job done with those. I've seen more expensive basses I like and of course played some expensive basses but I could never justify spending the extra dough. I am a mechanic by day and I invest my money in tools...

    Self-Powered Monitor Issue

I think you just solved this for me @BAG . And to think I was ready to go in and try to rewire this thing. A tiny mixer seems perfect. And I can find those used pretty easy too around here.

    Self-Powered Monitor Issue

It's set up just like @WayneP said. The mixer the band uses has like one monitor mix, and they're giving that to the keyboardist cause he has no amp. He's just plugged in direct. I don't expect that situation to change anytime soon, so I might be stuck.
