Who has the coolest picture of a Precision Bass? Post em up!

Not a great pic, but here's my baby. :D Precision Plus Deluxe. Fender Lace pick-ups. Got it in the early 90's...94, I think. I love this thing even more now than when I bought it. :bassist:

    THE ONE INFLUENCE?

Just one? I can't pick just one. I am a songwriter so I find I get attracted to bass player songwriters even if they aren't considered the "cream of the crop" bass players. I like Roger Waters...but I wouldn't call him a great bass player. He's a great song writer. I like Sting. I think he...

    excercise(s) for melodic playing

Just FYI. This is kind of fun to watch. He does all the parts for the song "Ever Present Past." Bass. Drums. Guitars. There are 4 videos in all.

    excercise(s) for melodic playing

Point taken...but I think that it is quite easy to get lost down the "parrot" route. Nothing wrong with that approach if you want to be a cover band member. (And there is nothing wrong with being in a cover band....don't get me wrong.) But if you want to do something different...at some...

Peavey T-40 to replace a fender precision?

Dude...T-40's are heavy...as in they weigh a lot. At least that is my main memory of the one that I owned back in the late 80s-early 90s...made my shoulder hurt. Very heavy. I was glad when I got rid of it just for that reason. I got a P-bass Plus Deluxe (lace active pickups) in the 90s...

    excercise(s) for melodic playing

Do you want to be a parrot or have an original voice...I guess that is the question that comes to my mind on this topic? I think it is fine to listen to others, but I question the point of mimicking others in an over the top way...i.e., working and working to exacly mimic their...

Uh, who has never been kicked out of a band?

I fired my keyboard player because I was uncreative and didn't realize that I should tell him that practice started 1 hour earlier than it actually did. (Something for folks to try if they have the same problem.) Being chronically very late is hard to deal with...

    If you can start over......

Oh, one more thing...stay the hell away from women (unless you are a songwriter and need future material...then women should not be avoided.) If you are just a musician, not a songwriter, then become a monk bass player. I assure you, you will have a richer and happier life.

    If you can start over......

Stay in college for years and years and years...get as much education as you can, but don't take too many classes in a given semester...play in college bands. Get a couple doctorates...in between touring with your bands. Take your time...but play a lot of bass and get a lot of education. The...

    Boss GT-10B

Agreed about the stage failure problem...but I think that's a chance I am open to since the same argument could be made about other instruments using a computer...like keys/noises/samples/etc. There is some advantages to being an acoustic act, I guess...but where's the fun/weirdness in that.

    Boss GT-10B

I'm looking for a good multi-effect solution, but I'm having trouble deciding between the Zoom or the Boss. I also wonder why not just go to something like Guitar Rig 3? Anyone want to chime in on how the Zoom or Boss compares to the Guitar Rig 3?

I really just don't like Fenders!

Blasphemy!!!! :eyebrow: Just joking...to each his own...it is the sound you make not the brand name of your gear. I don't much like the new fenders either...the ones I've tried recently seem more cheaply made than my P-bass I bought in '94. I love my baby. Kurt
