Boss GT-10B

I don´t use it, but I have annoyed my fellow bandmembers with the "guitar"-patch, and I think that uses the pitchshifter, I haven´t really noticed any delay in that one...

By the way:
I installed my EBS MultiComp next to the GT-10B, I wanted to A-B it during next week´s bandrehearsal, last night I noticed that the MultiComp in the GT-10B added a lot of bass to my signal, and I couldn´t figure out where it was coming from, so I´d like to see if the GT-10b´s Multicomp is doing that, or if the GT-10B itself is doing that...more next week :)

Loads of Bumps, but I can´t help you Freaqy, I have never owned or played with a SansAmp, and I don´t use any kind of distortion, fuzz, or overdrive on my bass :hmm:
I did try out my original setup with the EBS MultiComp last night, and I changed the programming on the GT-10B so that when I step on a pedal for a second time the bypass comes on and that was exactly what I was looking for, 100% original bass tone! I can´t do without effects (alas) but this is the way to go for me. The MultiComp in the Boss could possibly sound exactly like the EBS, but that would mean a lot of time-consuming tweaking.

The Fx chain order can not be changed via midi or pedal switch, it is fully adjustable, but must be saved on a patch by patch basis.


Is there any delay with the pitch shifter. My Zoom multi has a short delay before the note sounds but it would be useful to effectively 'add' a C string to the bass using the pitch shift if there is no delay.

There is no delay in the pitchshifter, i don't recommend altering your string tuning with this effect.
There is also another pitching function called "Pedal Bend" which part of the Pedal/Wha group, this is basicaly a whammy effect on it's own.

I like this thing alot so if I can replace my SansAmp with it that would great.

The GT-10B has a send/return option as part of the Fx chain, you could keep the SansAmp and use it as part of the chain and arrange it into any section of the Fx.
You can also do the same with the preamp in your Bass head, using what is known as the 4 cable method (4CM), the preamp will now become an independant effects block arrangable anywhere in the chain.

That's nice to learn, I wish GK had the boost function before the effects loop send. I've been thinking of expanding from my ZOOM B2.1u to add computer editing, external stomp box loop, and an 800RB model. I've long been anti Boss but it's in consideration for me with the B9 and Pod X3 live.

Can anyone detail the 800RB modelling? Specifically, does it simply model the clean GK tone or the grinding rock tone of GK?

The zoom and boss are self contained? Guitar rig involves personal computing does it not?

I imagine theres nothing quite as phail as having your LT die onstage.

IMHO, the GT-10B is the height of affordable multieffects ATM, at least in terms of signal chain arranging and such. Its also got an onboard looper. It might be basic, but it there.

I am really tempted to test one out LOL

Agreed about the stage failure problem...but I think that's a chance I am open to since the same argument could be made about other instruments using a computer...like keys/noises/samples/etc. There is some advantages to being an acoustic act, I guess...but where's the fun/weirdness in that.

**** GO for the Boss GT-10B **** It's a beautiful and awsum machine, the depth of configurability is almost too much.

I recommend downloading (and reading) the user manuals for any equipment you might be interested in- and see what it can actually do.

As for computer based equipment, in the mid 90's i used to do keys/samples using a PC (keyboard equipment just didn't do what i wanted at the time), and there is nothing more embaracing to have to re-boot while mid gig. Computer equipment is just not reliable for live gigs.

Talk me out of this unit. I am looking at getting into effects. I have a comp, chorus and phaser already. I want some OD/Dist, Delay, Reverb, Filter, maybe octaver.

It would cost me as much or more to get the rest of the individual pedals and pedal board instead of the GT-10B.

Hi Steve, I´m sorry I don´t want to talk you out of this unit, my main reason of buying a multi-effects unit such as this one instead of a load of stomp boxes, is that every setting is stored, you can´t store settings on most stomp boxes, and they´re not very precise either. I have to use a delay time of 420ms, and at the same time a tremelo that is also tuned to 420 ms, and that´s almost impossible with stomp boxes. Furtermore if one of you cables just slightly touches one of the knobs on a stomp box it will be almost impossible (in a live setting) to get it back instantaniously...
...and then there is the obvious loss of signal with all the cables running from stomp box to/from stomp box..
