Building a body blank from scratch

There is a good hardwood lumber place in Richardson called Wood World. They have a decent selection and are good about letting you look through their inventory. There is also a Rockler in Plano and in Ft Worth. For those in DFW hope this helps!

    InLace liquid inlay

I think by knife edging he means rounding the edges of the fingerboard with a scraper?

    All texas bass players.

Well, there are a few good shops around. Check out Charley's guitars on Royal Lane. We have two guitar centers (one on central expressway and one near 635 and 35) There is also Zoo music in Garland. Hope that helps man.

    Danelectro DC clone idea

Thanks. That definitely would work. I think I'm going to make an MDF template this weekend for the body. Do you know how thick the body is? I think the originals were a bit thicker than the 1 3/4 inch body blank i have in mind is. If it is bigger I might hollow out some chambers in the rout and...

    Danelectro DC clone idea

Hello everyone, Im relatively new to TB, but Ive been prowling the LC for a few years, and finally want to take a shot at building my first guitar I really dig those old Danelectro DC59s, and I think it would be a cool build, but with a twist. Instead of doing a masonite-poplar-masonite...

Needing a neck for an Ibanez Rick clone bass

Those are some good ideas. If the neck heel wasnt so funny. It has a "step" in it so it can clear the neck pickup. That's what makes this a bit tricky.

Needing a neck for an Ibanez Rick clone bass

I have an old jazz bass neck that i messed with last night, and I really dont think it's going to work without serious modification. I don't mind paying to have a good replacement neck built though.

Needing a neck for an Ibanez Rick clone bass

Hello! Im new to talkbass (but ive been an avid post reader for a few years) I would just like to say that all the builds posted in the Luthier's corner have absolutely rocked! Someday soon I will attempt my first build after I can lock down a good bandsaw :) Now for my predicament. I have a...

    NBD: 77' Ibanez Rickenbacker copy!

Update: Just got the bridge saddle in from Pick of the Ricks. Perfect fit! Now I need to get that pickup surround. It sounds good to me as is, so I won't replace the pickups. Thanks everyone!

    NBD: 77' Ibanez Rickenbacker copy!

Its a bolt-on....which I really do like. When i first got it, it needed a neck shim in a bad way. I couldn't have done that with a neck through....although that particular design might not have ever needed adjusting. I wonder if these frets were particularly low profile when it was original...

    NBD: 77' Ibanez Rickenbacker copy!

Thank Kcole, I just ordered the saddle and pickup surround from pick of the ricks. I might get some rick pickups to put in this thing, im not sure. I really like the way it sounds as is, and im afraid of pony-ing up the cash and not hearing much of a difference. Thanks!
