Hey. I'm looking at one of these. I have an XB 800, which I love, but I've read good things about the KW-1250, especially with regard to tonal versatility in that you can play just about anything on it. I read a review that described it as boutique-ish. What do you think?
Anyone have this issue or know the answer? My volume knob started turning around without stopping. I looked for the set screw and there is none. I pulled the knob off and only the chrome colored knob came off and there is a black knob on the post. It appears that the chrome piece was glued...
Yeah. That's a good question. I suppose what I meant was "within reason and within those choices." For example, if I just take what I've seen, the range for a good Jaguar is about $350 to about $450. CVs I've seen for $400 to $500, MIMs about the same on the low end, but a bit higher on the...
So, I'm looking at three basses and money is not really an issue, although I don't want to go crazy since I'm a beginner/intermediate, but trying to get better faster.
If I had to choose between a
Squier Vintage 70s
Squier Jaguar full sized modified

Sorry for the late reply. To be honest, I haven't been playing it much lately. I did like the change to the flats. The string tension is pretty tight though. So, I'm not in love with that. I haven't adjusted anything else yet, and for a number of reasons, I've set the tone as low as it will...
Thanks for the info. If I get sick of the La Bella's, I may give them a try. As it is right now, I'm not playing this bass as much as I thought I might.
I decided to go with the LaBella's first. It has black tapewounds on it, but I don't like the sound on the higher strings, but it may be just that the strings are old. I decided to try the TI's last because I couldn't find them in a medium scale and the price is about double the LaBella's so I...
Hey, thanks. I just ordered the Hofner version of the LaBells Deep Talkin' Flats. So, I hope they are the right length, from the description on Sweetwater and the information I could find on Ibanez's site and other threads here, I think that was the right choice.
I see that a lot of people put flatwounds on these. I've a nylon (nylong covered?) string on mine (was on it when I bought it). I'm looking to use it largely for country/blue grass. I'd love to have as close to a stand up bass sound as possible. Are flatwounds the way to go? If so, what are...
Ha. I know this is ancient, but if anyone sees this, there is a guy near me selling an SRX400 for $200 with a nice hard case. I don't even need it, but I'm so tempted to jump on it. I have nothing like it. Thoughts so many years later?
I've heard that before and seen it. I know the Mike Rutherford has been playing Squier Bullet guitars for Genesis and I'm sure most guitarists are going nuts. I was recently at a blues festival where one of the bassists was playing a Squier Jazz Bass, and he was playing with one of the headliners.
