    Club Sandberg (part 2)

I have exactly the same bass. Lovely instrument, although mine weighs a bit more (4.1kg).

    The CORT Club (Part 2)

I have an Arona 5 OPBB too (as well as a 4). What surprised me when I got it, is that I found it quite heavy (about 4.5kg), while I keep reading how light they are. In fact, my Arona 4 is also very light, which is why I ordered the 5. It's still a nice bass, but I'm a bit disappointed about the...

Anyone moved away from bothering with a B-string?

I think Honch is actually making a valid point: constraints stimulate creativity. This can be in limiting yourself to 4 strings or a small drumkit. In my other passion, photography, it consists in leaving the zoom lens at home and going out with just one prime lens (you'll find endless...

    The CORT Club (Part 2)

I also have this bass. I actually had an Arona 4 string first. This was (and still is) my favourite bass. So when I wanted to try if I'd like a 5 string, I ordered an Arona 5. This is also a nice instrument. However, one thing I like about my first Arona is that it's such a light bass. So I was...

    The CORT Club (Part 2)

I bought a B4FL in very fine condition almost one year ago, second hand for 200€. As it's my first fretless, I cannot really tell how it compares to other fretless basses, but I like playing it quite a lot. It seems to be fairly good quality.

Famous players that only use four string?

Well, my Cort Arona 5 arrived today. Played it briefly for 45 minutes. I don't know yet what I have to think. It will take some getting used to, but maybe less than I feared. To be continued :bassist:

Famous players that only use four string?

Some random thoughts prompted by this discussion... 1. I guess for people playing covers it's indeed a question of using the tool the songs call for. The players I was mentioning in the OP are all playing their own music. So if you're doing originals, you can write your bass lines to fit...

Famous players that only use four string?

My point is that I'm actually tempted to try one, but that maybe I should wait until I've exhausted the possibilities that 4 strings offer. When I'm asking about famous players I mean that if these people can get so much more out of their instruments than I can at this point, it may be better...

Famous players that only use four string?

I've been playing bass for about two years now (after more than 35 years of guitar) and only played 4 string basses until now. Recently I've been getting gas for a 5 string. So I'm trying to convince myself that I don't really need it. Restriction can be a good thing... To support this, I've...

Records you *have* to hear all the way through.

Any one of the Ayreon records, but especially my favourite "The Human Equation". A masterpiece!

"Official" Mikro Bass Club Part 2

I just bought myself a Mikro in Candy Apple Red today. Looks and sounds quite nice for the price (184€ including the gig bag). The main reason I bought it was that I wanted something relatively light, compact and cheap to take with me when traveling (to be used with my Vox Amplug Bass and iPod)...

    Club Sandberg (part 2)

As announced in my previous post, here are some pictures of my new Bullet Special 4 Session Edition: It's a beauty (at least I do think so...) Does this club still issue numbers? If so, I'd like one please ;)

    Club Sandberg (part 2)

I received the following information from Session Music. The Sandberg [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] is in fact a Invalid Link Removed, i.e. Bullet body shape, mahogany body with rarewood top (maple), but with the pickups and electronics of a Invalid Link Removed. These have been specially...
