How are the fretless Corts? I have seen some pretty good reviews on this site, but I haven't been able to find any. The only one I could find for sale was a Cort B4FL on ebay for $500, which seems to be a lot more than most people have been paying for them

I bought a B4FL in very fine condition almost one year ago, second hand for 200€. As it's my first fretless, I cannot really tell how it compares to other fretless basses, but I like playing it quite a lot. It seems to be fairly good quality.
I don't know, if I've already got a Number, but that's me playing my Arona 5 OPBB, wich is a fantastic "Bang for the Buck"

I also have this bass. I actually had an Arona 4 string first. This was (and still is) my favourite bass. So when I wanted to try if I'd like a 5 string, I ordered an Arona 5. This is also a nice instrument. However, one thing I like about my first Arona is that it's such a light bass. So I was a bit surprised (and dismayed
) that the five string version weighs about 1 kg more (about 4.5kg versus 3.5). Is this normal?BTW, as I now have 3 Cort basses (the 2 Arona's and a B4 fretless), I should be applying for club membership, once I get around to taking some pictures...

This C5H only has 2 EQ knobs.
The other 2 are volume and pickup pan.
I'd suggest setting the pan and bass eq to the central (notched) position. Have the treble eq knob up to half way between the central and full on. And have the mid-boost switch off. This should be good for slapping.
For a more attacking, middly, funk tone. Turn the pan to the bridge pickup, have bass & treble eq in the central position and have the mid-boost switch on. Play near the bridge for a nice "Jaco" sound.

Whoooaa, thats quiet a lot. My Arona 5 OPBB weighs 3,8 Kg, wich is IMO light for a 5-String.
Just joined Talkbass today. How does one post pictures on this forum? I want to join the Cort club but there appears to be no offical means to post pictures when typing a reply.

Picked this up the other day, MIK Cort B5, and I haven't even given it a proper tryout since it has a lousy (for me) setup with ultra-low strings. Probably won't play in tune either judging by how the saddles are set. It's not my usual style of bass. I usually go for more traditional designs and non-active pups and of course, I haven't played a fiver in years (I love a 4-string with a Hipshot bass Xtender for a quick drop D when I want it).
I assume this is an early B5 since it was made in '02 and doesn't have the Hipshot Lic. hardware, and the body has a solid gunmetal gray metallic finish. Bartolini Mk I pickups and a Fishman preamp? The controls look to be Volume, Blend, and the usual 3 knob eq.
The bridge looks like it would be a bear to set up. Are these basses well thought of generally? Also, is the neck African Wenge? Thanks
