    Amp XLR output

Play through a Mark Bass amp and I use the XLR output to the mixing board. As my band works its way through our sets, I often find that I need to adjust the output of the amp to rebalance the stage sound. The amp transmits this change to the mixer, requiring rebalancing of the house sound. I...

    "Low end heavy" room

Thanks for replies. Seems likely that they've had problems with loud bands in the past. However, I was wondering if there's anything special about the acoustics of a particular room that would cause this issue?

    "Low end heavy" room

Hi folks, My band will be gigging at a bar whose management describes the room as "low end heavy". They also say Bass players, please heavily under-compensate your amp’s low end BASS/EQ control on all channels needs to start (and mostly stay OFF @ 7 o’clock on the mixer) Ease up slowly on the...

Right. Thank you. Somehow that essential point got lost in the noise.

    Cabinet Stand

So what does this mean in a practical sense and what (if anything) do we do about it? Does it mean that we actually don't like the sound of our cabs or that they were poorly designed? Or do we just need to accept their limitations? Does it mean that we should readjust the EQ when changing...

    Cabinet Stand

Thanks! I'd love to see your work. Is there a woodworking section to this forum?

Yes, I did. Hard maple base and black cherry top.

    Cabinet Stand

I appreciate the kind words. In the picture below, the cabinet stand is on the left. I made it reversible. If the cab sits facing right it has a 30 degree tilt. If it faces left it has a 60 degree tilt. The stands for the head are on the right. The middle one is for 60 degree tilt and the...

    Cabinet Stand

This is definitely a very important problem! The frame on the top holds the amp, so there's no beer spot there. Fortunately I am also the sound guy for the band, so I put my beer on the table next to the mixing board.

    Cabinet Stand

Go back and read the OP. I made clear that I understood this already. There are bass players and there are readers and some of us can do both. Wow. That's deep. Is condescension a specialty? Another deep thought. I guess that's what I would expect from a bass forum. Thanks.

    Cabinet Stand

Thanks! I've very much appreciated the knowledge here. Perhaps I was mistaken, but I found the argument over whether user Akiyama's data was valid to be more of a pissing contest rather than an actual discussion that related to my original question. I also found the actions of certain users...

Maybe you folks can go fight about this inane point somewhere else instead of hijacking this thread.

    Cabinet Stand

Out of curiosity I decided to try out using a cabinet stand at a gig last night. I perform with an Aguilar GS112 and Fender Jazz with tone and volume maxed and nickel roundwounds and no FOH sound. I made a quick plywood mock up prototype fashioned after the Atlas Low Rider stand. I set the...
