    Pedal Demos!

Just finished watching. Awesome review/demo, as always. I'm glad you're back, but my bank account is less thrilled... I've never found anything that tops my Analog.man/MXR Vintage Phase 90, but this may be a contender. So many good sounds!

    Pedal Demos!

Glad you're back! Gotta say, with all the pandemic craziness, I was a little worried about you.

    New Traynor YBA 100!!

Don’t know what I was thinking; that’s clearly not the right amp. Still a fan, and I’ve had good luck having them make things not in their database. They simply need a few measurements, or a good spec page online or from a user manual.

    New Traynor YBA 100!!

I’m a big fan of Studio Slips. And they’ve got the amp in their database: Traynor YBA-1 Mod 1 Head #8070

My New Studio Build (perhaps overly detailed)

I regularly watch 45-60 minute videos, some even longer. But I do like to consume them in one sitting, so four hours would be a bit much. I don't know how normal I am, though. People keep telling me my students "can't" watch anything longer than 10 minutes or so. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    The Great Bass Preamp/DI Comparison

The MXR Vintage Bass Octave and the "new" MXR Timmy would seem to fit the bill; neither is trendy or boutique or rare, but they're solid performers, and meet your size and budget requirements.

And, both ironically and paradoxically, that's the one really necessary bit of knowledge that proves someone is actually qualified to teach! (I say that as someone who's spent the last 20 years as a professor of Composition, Literature, and Creative Writing, so don't take that as a slam on...

    The Great Bass Preamp/DI Comparison

Sounds like a P-bass to me. Flat-wounds, and like @ianrossbass said, a very B-15 amp/pre sound. Push 1-1.5kHz or so to get that "front of the note/finger" sound. Boost the lows a bit, cut a bit somewhere around 400-500Hz. Maybe a slight boost to the highs, but I'm least confident about that. Oh...
