I meant your thoughts on returning to it after having used the Grace for some time, not anywhere in the signal chain.

I don't have an Oracle and there is no Oracle in my signal chain. I do still have a Grace Alix.
I thought you were selling/trading that Alix in the classifieds for another Oracle? I think I need to check myself, I may have stumbled into an alternate universe

Yes, that is my plan. At least at the moment. I love the Grace Alix. It is phenomenal. In fact, I prefer it to the Noble. But everybody seems to want me to compare things to the Noble so I guess in the spirit of helping out the community I'll hold on to the Noble for a while longer.
I know I will get another Alix someday... but it wouldn't hurt to free up some cash right now in the short term. Between this thread and all the preamps I have and then all of the compressor reviews I've been doing it is very expensive.

If you don't mind an OCD clone, the Mosky OD is super cheap at $30. TC Sub n Up mini is reasonable. You can even get a PT tuner in there since you have a volume pedal.
You definitely need to use EBS Gold patch cables too.

It actually is. I moved my Empress on to get it, and I loved that thing. I wasn't convinced I would be as happy, but once I had the Becos dialed in I realized I was worried about nothing.
Decided to go with another Hooker's Green Bassmachine. Had one before and it is a great little drive that doesn't lose the low end.
While looking at compact preamp/EQ rigs, I noticed the Southampton Ictineo seeming to be pretty badass. Has the somewhat disconcertingly common report of noise been addressed to any degree?

I'm also eyeballing the less compact, no less badass, ol JHS Colour Box v2... guess I'm a sucker for solid state. Has anyone figured out a way to modify the HPF's range? I don't have the skill to buy one and analyze it sufficiently to discover such a thing, but DO have the skill to switch out a few components if that's what it takes to get the bottom end down from 60Hz to, say, around 35Hz.

I had Ictineo #001. No noise I could discern. Unless maybe certain frequencies were super boosted. It's a great pre. Some serious tone magic.
My submarine designer was the surrogate from which the Ictineo was birthed. The Ictineo is not the quietest if pedals but is mighty fine.
I really dislike it personally... the full 66 was one of those fantastic on paper TalkBass influenced purchases that I received and immediately couldn't work with. Flexible? Yes. Sounded great in demos? Pretty much. Interactivity? Zero. If you like a drive to have some semblance of compression and really help you do your thing, that one ain't it. To me certain OCD types are better or worse than others and that one definitely is on the clinical end. I kept it for using as an insert on my DAW but haven't actually looked at it in years....
Y'all talked about the DSM Humbolt Bass Simplifier at all? I'm eyeing it as a contender if I end up disliking the sound of the SLO mkiii.
