Are the 2 knobs on front left eq or output controls?
Hey! That's my custom pedal, literaly. I designed it with Tom. Where did you get that picture? It's also listed in the Custom page of Cog's website.
Output controls .. no eqAre the 2 knobs on front left eq or output controls?
Heaven help me, under the influence of this thread, I am building a mini pedalboard.
O wise ones, please advise:
Preamp --> Compressor --> High/Low Pass Filter --> Amp
or some other, more optimal order? Or does it matter? (Silly question. This is TB. Of course it does! A lot.)![]()

I second to that. Especially if the compressor doesn’t have sidechain filter. If it does, the HPF sits better after, although it might be redundant with the preamp. Maybe HPF last, to tighten up the low end if necessary.I prefer the HPF before the compressor to minimize "slamming" the threshold. Probably also place the Preamp at the end of the chain. Does it have a DI out?

I thought you were selling/trading that Alix in the classifieds for another Oracle?
Oh I see. Nope, you are on the right planet though I might not be.Yes, that is my plan. At least at the moment.
@scubaduba - I'll be interested to hear your thoughts as well about going back to the Oracle!
Thanks for the replies. I’ll experiment. Obviously, not playing out now, so this little board feeds the input of my SA200 for my (and the neighbors’) enjoyment. Having a post-HPF, post-comp DI out for FOH makes obvious sense.
Y'all talked about the DSM Humbolt Bass Simplifier at all? I'm eyeing it as a contender if I end up disliking the sound of the SLO mkiii.
The Simplifier just came around my Youtube feed again last night, and I'm also curious if anyone here has any experience. Seems like a lot of flexibility in a pretty small box.

It's an interesting enough device that I think I'm going to buy one in the next week or so when I'm refunded for a bass I just returned. That way I'll be able to shoot it out with the SLO and give some thoughts. Also, Humboldt. Humboldt. Sometimes I have no access to the edit button and I have absolutely no idea why. Very frustrating when posting from a phone!The Simplifier just came around my Youtube feed again last night, and I'm also curious if anyone here has any experience. @scubaduba - A very nice how to/review, some really good info there!
@ianrossbass - I'll be interested to hear your thoughts as well.
After reading Scuba's review and watching a few youtube videos, I feel like the Simplifier will probably stay on my "maybe someday" list for now... Seems like a great preamp swiss army knife, but there are other preamps that pique my interest quite a bit more at the moment.

Or your could just do both! Lol. I have both on my board and really like them.Or I could try the Oracle since it's exactly the price of the instrument I returned. Hmmmmmmmmmm....
Well, okay, maybe afterwards. I can try the Simplifier and for once with these preamps it's a thing you can get from a retailer and return without hassle.
