    So have you attempted to turn the tweeter all the way down again since you noticed the crackling? That might help you figure out for sure if its the tweeter or the woofer.

    I give mine about a half inch of space on the top as it does get hot pretty quick. Get a 4 to 6 space case (depending on what other rack units you have or intend to purchase) and keep the amp unit on the bottom with one space in between the next. Enjoy, good amp.
