    Most difficult bass song ever!!

+1: weird over the top playing.. On the other end of the spectrum: "What is hip" from Tower of Power; I really don't know how anyone can play that tight...it's like a machine

Your Effects Pedal Usage : Chorus ?

I use my Yamaha FX500B for EQ, compression and chorus. It's a small halfrack unit, but I really like the over the top chorus. Since I use an Epiphone Rivoli (with Dimarzio One) I need the extra topend the chrous and EQ give me.

    Kajagoogoo

I did a Stickseminar and concert with Nick in 2000 in Holland. Very nice bloke. He told me he got the John Paul Jones-gig on the recommendation of Robert Fripp. I really like the way he grooves on the Stick (and bass); he played the Big Bubbles-part on his Stick during one of his lessons...

    Shortscale semi-hollow inquiries...

I would also recommend the Cassady, since it's a long-scale it'll handle downtuning better. Also: The singer/bassist from dutch metalband Gorefest uses a Cassady and it looks very cool:

    Loop that trails?

Precisely what dgelting suggests: keep the time-based effects after the loop. When you're talking about looping devices that "trail out"; I use the Oberheim/Gibson Echoplex. You have the feedback-control controling the decay. You can also use a pedal to control the feedback

    Gibson/Epi SG/EB neck p/u comparison

The mudbucker-style pickup that came with my reissue Rivoli is a lot weaker & microphonic than the Gibson version. I replaced it with a Dimarzio One. The One is a lot more versatile (more highs for instance) and usable than the Epi pickup.

    Jack Casady-like overdrive

I know this is a long shot, but I'm looking for a decent way of emulating the warm overdrive Jack Casady got on recordings like Bless It's Pointed Little Head and songs like Water Song. I know people will "impossible...you'll have to get his rig...(not to mention his hands and brains)" ... but...

Maybe found a decent Gibson mudbucker replacement?

Hi everyone.... I got my Epiphone back just a couple of hours before I had to do the audition...I wasn't even able to check the sound beforehand.. It turned out that when the pickup was soldered outside the body everything worked fine, but as soon as the pickup was screwed into position...

Maybe found a decent Gibson mudbucker replacement?

Thanks for the replies!!!! I tried to resolder with the given tips, but to no avail; I think I pulled other cables loose as well. I dunno... I'll send the bass to a repairmain and hopefully he'll be able to undo the damage....

Maybe found a decent Gibson mudbucker replacement?

I got the DiMarzio One in yesterday and at moment...well...my bass doesn't work anymore....:crying: Let me tell you before I rarely handle a solderingiron...a total noob... The DiMarzio has 4 wires (of which 2 have to be connected: leaves me with 3 wires). The original pickup: 2 wires...

Maybe found a decent Gibson mudbucker replacement?

As far as I know there are no replacementcovers. Also: the Dimarzio One has two rows of screws whereas the Mudbucker only has one, so a standard cover won't fit. Schotch: Please keep us up to date if you decide to install the extra pickup. Keep in mind though that combining both pickups will...

Maybe found a decent Gibson mudbucker replacement?

Lunarpollen: your posts made me think about replacing the pickup in the first place. I bought the bass in an impulse, mainly because the price was ok. I was lusting for a Epi Casady, but the Rivoli was a third of the price. It's limited and require eerr... a special taste in bass, but it is cool...

Maybe found a decent Gibson mudbucker replacement?

I've been thinking about a similair config (with an extra humbucker). I was thinking about adding a chickenhead knob instead of the choke-switch and adding a Varitone-circuit: http://www.guitar-mod.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=V6B&Category_Code=MID or something like...

Maybe found a decent Gibson mudbucker replacement?

Thanks for the info!! I'll think I'll go ahead and buy the Dimarzio. Don't know about the quality: Link Removed Also Allparts sells them... http://www.allparts.com/store/pickups-bass-pickups,Category.asp What I meant in my previous post was that I want to keep the original harness...

Maybe found a decent Gibson mudbucker replacement?

Hi , I've lurking on this forum for several weeks. I recently bought a reissue Epi Rivoli and also want to change the pickup. On a Dutch-bassforum I read that an Artec Mudbucker is about 3 mm (1/10 of an inch) too big. I'm also not sure about the sound of such a cheap pickup; the standard Epi...
