Sire P8 - Headstock broken - Help with suggestions.

I have nothing to offer that hasn't already been said, except some humour perhaps :) When I saw the first photo in attached, I thought it was one of these bad boys.

Comedy of Errors: a gig thread

that same gig me and the guitarist were bored waiting for the show to start so we decided to put two batteries on top of his amp, terminal to terminal. what resulted 10 minutes later was a beautiful aroma of everything you don’t want to smell in a smell, and two very hot and dead batteries.

He said a Peavey bass head, no need to be facetious. If you choose to assume everyone that says they’re using a Fender amp is using a Frontman that’s up to you. Peavey is known for being reliable, and your opinion of it being ‘unprofessional’ puts you in the minority. The points are relevant...

Comedy of Errors: a gig thread

In terms of gig failures, when I was in high school I was playing in the school musical, playing on acoustic bass. All my basses were active pickups so I was fiddling with the pile of batteries I had whilst waiting for some music to happen during some emotional scene on stage. The thought pops...

Comedy of Errors: a gig thread

You said “…you're talking about being a professional and then also talking about using a Peavey amp and Joyo wireless” Last time I checked it’s the same Peavey electronics that makes the amps. You never said a Peavey bass amp, you said a Peavey amp, implying that no pro would ever use a Peavey...

Struth my friend. I trust the gear that pros that make more money playing music than anyone on this forum use. By all accounts Peavey is great, and Joyo makes fine stuff too. Perhaps only one of one boutique gear is pro enough for a forum surfer ;) Sorry for the quick thread derailment OP :)

Comedy of Errors: a gig thread

Some of the biggest bands in the world have used Peavey 5150s/6505s, I'd say they're just as professional as any other amp.

    Electric Bass Bow Tools

Certainly seems to be a mistake, as this book is one of the most peculiar reads I've ever had. About half of the songs are written 1/2 step below how they're actually played and recorded, as well as every version I've found. Some of them even do this halfway through the song, why is beyond me...

    Electric Bass Bow Tools

The show actually requires a Low B five string, which I'm under the impression is even more niche than a C extension! Here's some excerpts from the songs that list as upright, the last one is also listed as 'bow ready'. Perhaps the Eb would be doable if I downtuned the instrument, but I'm also...

    Electric Bass Bow Tools

I'll definitely check this technique out! The sound is about as close as anyone's going to get without an actual upright, as the piezo and extended fretboard on the SRF are about as close of an approximation as one can get without an actual upright. I'll be running a comp, volume pedal anyways...

    Electric Bass Bow Tools

Yeah buying a double bass is certainly not ideal for me, especially as this show requires a 5 string for those parts. Something like an NS WAV 5 would likely be my best option as my eyes water at the prices of some of the actual 5 string uprights. Even then, it's a new instrument that I'll need...

    Electric Bass Bow Tools

The musical is Legally Blonde, so it has string parts but they are likely going to be played by the keys, the violin market is pretty sparse where I live. There will be no acoustic pianos, just RD-2000s and the like. They haven't specifically asked for the upright, and I know the MD is willing...

    Electric Bass Bow Tools

I do actually have an acoustic, just not a fretless one. This could be a potential option, don’t think much of that fretless ‘mwah’ will be coming through when bowed anyways

    Electric Bass Bow Tools

Hi all, I’ve recently been enlisted to play a musical, and I very much do not play double bass however there are parts of the musical that are bowed double bass. For the overall sound I’ll be using my Ibanez SRF705 with the piezo, as the parts also require 5 strings and I’ll already be using...

    SRF705 Push Pull Pot

Pretty sure this is a new thing with them, mine is a LP06, which was the latest run of them. I found a schematic for the older models, and IIRC the quick connect serves to send it to the preamp, but in the LP06 models it’s a quick connect onto the PCB instead of the lugs, and the PCB just has...
