Correct me if I'm wrong, but is it REALLY important to arrive at a gig together

Uhaul = mobile green room. Fill that sucker with a mattress in mom's attic, a couple ratty couches, a coffee table, bags full of blow, sacks full of weed, and a couple of backstage fans. Airbrush a wizard on the side of the truck and enjoy becoming local legends.

You are forced to get rid of everything except one bass, one amp, one cab, one pedal

MIA P bass -> Hudson Electronics Broadcast -> Fender Super Bassman -> fEARFUL 15/6

What would you do? (Reverb purchase shipping woes)

I'd add that I took a pretty big hit on shipping an amp to Hawaii once. I didn't complain to the buyer, but I learned that I don't sell outside the continental US. I took my lumps and learned from my mistake and didn't ask him to fund it.

What would you do? (Reverb purchase shipping woes)

Sounds to me like he paid $35 of tuition towards learning how to ship stuff you sell on the internet. If the last thing you said was we can cancel the order and refund the money if it was going to be more expensive, and then he ships it at a more expensive price than the agreed upon terms then...

Have you ever been embarrassed because of an instrument a bandmate is playing?

The minute someone shows up with a melodica I’m out of that band. Conversely, I’m in for life if there’s an accordion.

stage positions for band members talk

Bass (stage left), Drums (up center), Acoustic/Rhythm/Singer (down center), Lead (stage right). I like to be next to the high hat and snare. The drummer and I prefer it this way. If we have a guest musician they usually slide in between the singer and the lead player.

After Eight Months In This Band It Finally Happened!

My friends were heckling us at a show once and kept yelling out Freebird and Wagon Wheel. We blew their minds by playing Wagon Wheel in a minor key and made it a bluesy song. I should add that these are the same friends who use Wagon Wheel as a measure to determine their drunkenness. If you can...

    Low-Wattage Tubesters Official Club

Picked up this up off TB classifieds. This is definitely carving out its place as my low-medium volume rig. I can't wait to hear what this DI sounds like. Yeah, it's sitting on a Super Bassman. I've got 30-300 watts covered. Pretty much sure that is ALL I'll ever need.

I think I need a different cab for my Super Bassman

Yup. Try a Broughton HPF for a crisp Benjamin instead of throwing more cash at different cabs. I run a similar setup as yours, P-bass w/ flats into a Super Bassman and a fearful 15/6. It can get real boomy in some rooms, but so does my Fender Rumble 100. I always run a HPF and it cleans that up...

The opposite of the typical Band Management horror stories. Who's in a good band???

I'm in the best band I've ever been in. These guys bring it: the frontman is serious about song writing, the lead guitarist is phenomenal and he's real humble, and the drummer brings an insane work ethic that has pushed all of us to be tighter. In 2014, me and a buddy started this band. He was...

Do you prefer the tone of lightweight Class D heads over more traditional, heavier designs? A Poll

I voted 100% tubes and I'm a dyed in the wool member of the Church of Iron & Glass. However, I don't believe the hype that Class-D cannot correctly project the sound of tube amps. Several years ago, I was at an outdoor festival and I heard a bass player hit the first notes of a song and they...

Which pre-owned bass head for around $300-400?

Yeah. If you can bust your can and work up a little extra scratch, then tubes really is where you want to be. Think about it. What sound are you trying to get? That grindy, tubey goodness. There was a post up earlier about how it's getting harder for people to sell tube amps because the market...
