    The Great Bass Preamp/DI Comparison

There really is no way to avoid talk about how amazing the LA-1A on Talkbass, eh? Maybe I'll give up and grab one...

Anybody using Pyramid flats? Why aren’t they more popular?

Has anyone noticed some of the strings being "coarse," almost like somewhere between a round and a flat? @starjag pointed out that his G is coarser than the rest on his new set. I hadn't noticed before he pointed it out, but my A and D strings feel coarser than the E and G on my set, which is...

    The Great Bass Preamp/DI Comparison

I see what you're saying. The way I saw it was: 1) I'm recording; I want the EQ to be as flat as possible so I can adjust it in Logic. 2) I'm playing live with a PA system; I want to send a pre-EQ signal to FOH so the sound man can EQ. 3) I'm playing with my amplifier; I will use the EQ on my...

Looks nice and simple. And made in Canada. Can't wait to hear what you think about it. Have you tried the REDDI?

    The Great Bass Preamp/DI Comparison

Seems like there are a lot of hoops to go through to use the Oracle/RNDI combo... Is a balanced out necessary when doing home recordings where your interface is on the same desk as your preamp?

With the USD/CAD exchange rate right now, the Noble is more than double the price of the Oracle.

    The Great Bass Preamp/DI Comparison

Question: Is there a reason for using the RNDI as opposed to the balanced out of a preamp pedal? I already have the RNDI and I'm interested in purchasing the Oracle. Is it worth waiting for the upcoming version with a balanced out or would it sound better to use the RNDI? thanks.

Testing Compressors: Cali, Smoothie, Empress, Diamond, Keeley, FEA, Darkglass, Doc Lloyd, Lusithand & more

From what I remember, I couldn't really hear any tube grit from the PC-2A. Maybe with headphones, but not through my interface. Does the LA-1A produce more tube grit? I assume the LA-1A and PC-2A are more alike than they are different?

I think I'm going to keep the Cali 76 and grab the Oracle. If the Cali 76 is good for Pino, it's good for me. I also play a lot of modern pop / dance music with my band and concluded last practice that the Cali 76 was better suited for that type of music than the PC-2A. I think...

Show me your compact pedalboard setup

Question for you: If you could only play through an interface, what would be best option to add colour and tube warmth? The LA-1A or the Oracle? Thanks.

The answer is probably obvious, but if you could only play through an interface, what would be best option to add colour and tube warmth? The LA-1A or a tube preamp like the Oracle or the SLO?
