It tries to install stuff if you go there now. Luckily I used my locked down browser. I suggest you do not visit.

Earthquaker Blumes: Best Tube Screamer for Bass?

I like that it gets you almost completely out of lead guitar sonic space.

O/D Options to pair with a Stingray Special 4H

It does a wide range of gain, from mild to full on. It will do a big full grind, but it can do subtle warmth too.

O/D Options to pair with a Stingray Special 4H

I currently am using the Blumes with my Special. I can attest that it sounds amazing. Mode 2 is especially good.

    Classic Rock Bass sound

It's stupid simple to get a good oldschool tone out of the Blumes. My guitar player loves that it gets me almost completely out of lead space. You can hear us both all the time.

    Do I NEED a pre-amp pedal?

You probably don't but you might find it useful. I use a Mesa Walkabout amp with a Mesa Subway+ pre into a Subway15. I play in a cover band and am expected to cover a lot of sonic room with my sound. Everything from ancient country songs to MOR rock. I can set the Walkabout to the room, then...

    Rare SX (Essex) Bass?

It's seriously heavy with the ash wings and maple/mahogany neck. Good sound, kinda Shecter-ish.

    Rare SX (Essex) Bass?

I have the 5 string version of this with green wings. It's a solid bass worth playing if not the flashiest.

    Kramer "Duke" Deluxe bass

I paid $300 about 15 years ago for mine, so I think you did alright

    Anybody using three pre amps…?

Stingray Special 4H set flat into Mesa Subway+ preamp into Mesa Walkabout set flat out to a Subway 15. I do all tone shaping on the Mesa Subway+ as it is easy and quick to get a close enough tone for covers in the ten seconds or so I have to do it in between songs.

    noob question about fingernails

A good pair of nail clippers is always in my go bag. For me, trim the first two on the right hand and everything is golden

    guess what's on the way...

To make a Subway amp sound less pristine, up the input gain and lower the volume.

    guess what's on the way...

The Subway 15 sounds great at low volumes, just sayin'

    Active bass is dead

Google "cold solder joints" and see if you have some on the board. A little heat with a soldering iron might fix this.
