I like that it gets you almost completely out of lead guitar sonic space.

It does a wide range of gain, from mild to full on. It will do a big full grind, but it can do subtle warmth too.

I currently am using the Blumes with my Special. I can attest that it sounds amazing. Mode 2 is especially good.

It's seriously heavy with the ash wings and maple/mahogany neck. Good sound, kinda Shecter-ish.

I have the 5 string version of this with green wings. It's a solid bass worth playing if not the flashiest.

Stingray Special 4H set flat into Mesa Subway+ preamp into Mesa Walkabout set flat out to a Subway 15. I do all tone shaping on the Mesa Subway+ as it is easy and quick to get a close enough tone for covers in the ten seconds or so I have to do it in between songs.

A good pair of nail clippers is always in my go bag. For me, trim the first two on the right hand and everything is golden

To make a Subway amp sound less pristine, up the input gain and lower the volume.

The Subway 15 sounds great at low volumes, just sayin'

Google "cold solder joints" and see if you have some on the board. A little heat with a soldering iron might fix this.
