oddly, my bronco gets a lot of play, my most recent bass is a 5 string ibanez mezzo and my CV jazz are getting the most play time right now.
i'll update this thread after spending a little quality time with it, and will do a review after i've spent more time using it. i'll also review it on MF, as they have no reviews of it at all.

it arrived with the box in perfect condition (thanks, UPS!)
and nicely packed including the padded carrying bag.
it's so small it almost fits on my phil jones C-2 on its side!
for those who want the long version, this is from a PM to someone who asked for a comparison between the rumble 40 (seen just below the phil jones) with the mesa. it's gonna be long...
the mesa D-350 through the phil jones C-2 has a cleaner tone while the fender is just a little wooly. i like that for a lot of basses. both have plenty of low end. the mesa voicing knob is much more versatile than the push buttons on the rumble, but since i use vintage/classic on both so far, it's not a big deal. the voicing knob all the way to the right has a super classic tone - round, lots of bottom end, still clean.
the phil jones C-2 has never sounded this good. i've only used it with 3 amps, but the mesa and the PJ sound really really great, and they get wayyy too loud for my condo (i gave the entire complex 2 minutes of gain and master up to about 7, and it was rehearsal or small club volume, way louder than the 40 watt rumble.
the mesa with the phil jones is actually the best bass sound i've ever had (since 1993) for most of my basses. my CV jazz sounds like god's bass. wow, it sounds great. it sounded amazing with my glarry with a fender vintage p bass pickup. my mikro with fender jazz pickups sounded great.
on the other hand, the basses with not the best tone sound better through the rumble. i could maybe dial in a better tone for the bronco on the mesa, but it sounds great through the rumble. same with my stock mikro. clean tone isn't always your cheapest basses' friend. the mezzo 5 string sounded better with the amp set to passive despite having an active preamp; keep in mind i didn't turn the gain or the master up to do this.
the mesa has a higher end feature set, but for home practice, that won't matter. for recording, it's got the right stuff. btw, i love having a standby/mute option.

a mesa D-350!
i've wanted a mesa for years, but i needed a smaller amp. somehow i missed the existence of this 3.2 pound head for quite a while, read about it all night, combed through the manual, and this morning i pulled the trigger. it is expected to arrive friday. i'm practically jumping up and down with anticipation
btw, many thanks to agedhorse for replying to my messages.
Subway 210 or 115 to start. You can easily double them later. Just remember the 350 only goes down to 4Ohms.
Wait for the 350+. In the interim, there's always Broughton.

Although it's the smallest Mesa SW amp, it puts just as big a smile on your face as its larger SW family siblings. All the SW heads are equally well engineered and built professional quality pieces of gear...each is just designed a little differently to meet the needs (and requests) expressed by different players.
Regardless of your gigging needs and/or tone goals, it's hard not to be impressed with what the D-350 can do and how well it's built. Congratulations pcake and welcome to the wonderful world of Mesa!

To make a Subway amp sound less pristine, up the input gain and lower the volume.

I'm an amateur player playing smaller rooms and house parties so my Janky Rig of Doom for now, while good for some fun at home, is some serious overkill and a bit of a schlep as well. Yes, I have great neighbours.
Now if Mesa would only design a nice compact, VERTICAL, 2x8" or 2x10" to go with it. This would be an awesome rig with a really nice footprint that would be absolutely perfect for many of us.
