    Ampeg Portaflex PF-350

I got one last summer. It gigged that afternoon in the sun, ran hot and stayed loud. Thought it would fault for sure, but not a single light. It is currently used as a Di box for band's pa. I use it over my sansamp for the tone. It's boost/cuts are much greater in the highs and lows, so it's...

Were you dead before you were born (or conceived)?

+1 for starting this thread I have degrees that suggest I would be well suited to frame both sides of this debate and provide well documented commentary on the underlying philosophical metaphors in question, but I am just going to work out a chord progression and wonder if I was a bass player...

    Best flatwound stings?

I started on D'addario Chromes moved on to Rotosound 77s, which won the two year battle, but I have since switched to tapewounds for the added boom and less plunk.

    One rackspace poweramp suggestions?

Rocktron Velocity 300, good and cheap, but heavy. Works best bridged to 300w @ 8o, through a 4x10.

Anyone use Rocktron Velocity 300 for bass?

Just got mine. It hits well, the effects are not so good past 2 o'clock. I got it to save space, and only use as my stereo effects amp in a dual amp setup. Gonna review it soon on a new thread. Tech 21 sans amp - programmable, for the classic sounds. It's sturdy too, I use a friend's unit that...

    Recommend a fuzz pedal?

Whatever you don't get an EHX Big Muff Pi and hope you can get good fuzz under $100. However, it does wonders on the middle fuzz, but spits mud into the lows.

What was your worst tour experience?

My father passed away the morning of our first set, that night my pedal adapter blew so my tone was dry :( half our set was heavy on delay, so we bombed lol :)

Is being self taught the kiss of death?

I went to some jazz clubs, picked the best player and asked to get a few lessons. He said no but the guitar player taught jazz guitar professionally. He was a great deal of help answering questions on the fly while we went over material. I even took drum lessons to help with rythmic practice...
