Need it louder. Guitar players super loud.

I was also use an Aguilar TH700 and pair it with 2 Genzler Magellan 1x12’s. Significantly more ‘air’ movement than 1 . Bring just one to practice, two for gigs.

Opinions on 2x12 bass cabs, (also 1x12, 1x15)

I use two of the older Magellan 1X12's. The two with a good 700-800 watt amp is more than enough for even mid-large gigs. I use one 1X12 for rehearsals cuts through drums with pretty pure tone. Big punch for a 1X12.

My new house's stone floors destroy bass responses.

Try a rug in front of your cab and perhaps a sound baffle or so on the walls.

Darkstar pickup - who is still using them?

Dual factory installed Hammonds on my 2007 Lakland Decade. Also had a Lakland 44-64 (p bass) with a single Dark Star. My feedback is unique but warm sound. One is almost better than two for me. Curious the difference on the newer Curis Novak vs. these.

Loudest tiny cab? Genzler? Barefaced? Other?

I like 12’s better than 2X10’s. I’d consider the Genzler MG112T-V. Have two of the older Genzler MG-112T’s and they are great. A hair more Vintage sounding than the Bergs when I tried then both.

Agree with chaosMK, play them and see what your ears like. The most important thing.

Loudest tiny cab? Genzler? Barefaced? Other?

I have 2 Genzler Magellan MG-112T’s and they are great. Just did a comparison to my DNA 115 which I always considered a cab you could throw anything at and the 2 Genzlers blew it away in clarity, tone and volume. Comparing tonight to my outdoor show standby my ampeg neo 4x10 that handles 1200...

One step brighter than Flatwounds for recording

Just had this same debate with myself. For flats I love GHS precision flats. A round wound string with considering are DR Sunbeams. I use them On my jazz and they sound great. They are easy to play but add just a bit more growl and mid. As far as recording, just recorded in the studio with my...

Would you be offended if a band asked you to play a P bass?

Not at all offended. Especially if the BL is a bassist:) P Basses have a unique sound that sit well in the mix. We have heard them on so many recordings that it is a sound people 'expect' to hear.

My Jazz Bass has no balls. Help!

To expand on no balls assuming your pickups seem weak and low end missing. Two quick fixes, (1) adjust the height of your pickups, in particular the one by the neck for more low end. (Or have a pro do a setup and tell them what you want). (2) adjust your amp and or add a pedal that will boost...
