Attempting to revive this because, seriously, does nobody make a comparable sounding light weight cab to the XLT series? That grizzly low mid girth but still fast and hifi.. maybe I’m stuck in the 90s but I don’t care.

Old thread but the streamer pickups are a little closer together and closer to the bridge vs the corvette. Definitely sound different.

Best of both worlds.. can’t hate on that. I have always liked (and wanted) the Q5 body shape better than the gg. I have yet to even play either… never see them around. Sure hope to get my hands on one some day! Until then.. It’s my Warwicks.

Is anyone still dabbling in this that’s interested in some sort of commissioned pickup cover? Looking to make a pickup cover for an MEC Twin J pickup in the shape of a 5 string MM (older style with no ears) humbucker.

These two strings are totally opposite sounding from each other imo. XL’s are super bright for nickels and have a ton of string noise. Balanced Nickels are the opposite of lively… I actually have them both on two different basses currently. I’m realizing I want something in the middle of those...

Does this mean you’re able to switch between using both sides of the Twin J? I assume with the middle being both on? Why is this pickup usually only setup from factory to be able to switch only to the back of the TJ (closer to the bridge) but not the front?

So, this news bummed me out as well.. and my speculation was unfortunately confirmed at the recent SPAC benefit shows (which I can’t really complain about, the Derek Trucks sit in was a blast). Im not saying the bass sounded bad, but the tone was not nearly as cutting and articulate as normal...
