Rusty Box & Rat King/Tail for sure. With no amp, the RB would seem wiser, but the RK would be easier to get I'd think. They do good low gain, as well as high IMO.

Also maybe record a loop, and play that loop through them, to remove variables like inconsistent attack, etc, between clips.

Kind of. "Amp1" is a sunn 200s, and "Amp2" is a Univox 1221. The univox is technically a guitar amp, and certainly more highs compared to the 200s. Both amps run through 2x15's. If I'm using the phaser by itself, and playing anything but "clean" through the sunn, it kind of gets lost. Works...

Yea Matt does a little bit of everything, hence all the options. I highly doubt it's like DE where one component got swapped...new pedal! I used to have the crush fuzz. It sounded nice and seemed solid.

I run it like this... Bass>od>stereo buffered splitter>fuzz>od>octave>delay>Amp 1 ------------------------------->fuzz>phase>delay>reverb>Amp 2 It allows me to do a lot of "blending." Best setup I've ever put together, and no phase issues thus far. Now I need to add a bypass switch to one out...

It's really easy to build these...AMZ - Guitar Effects & JFET Splitter I use one every day. It's not going to make anything sound like a Ric though. That's from the electronics & separate pups splitting to different outs.

Here's some more learnin'...phasers are actually filters (like a wah), not modulation. I use mine in the middle of my chain, between 2 dirt pedals.

Vox has a new delay/looper out this year, that seems like an upgraded dl-4. Might be worth checking out.

The boss dd's do this well, and are usually easy to find for a decent price. I've kept a dd3 around the house for years.

From what I've been told, the included rhythms are poor on those. Seems more useful to make/find nicely programmed drum tracks and upload them to the looper. Might be able to get a simpler looper that way.

Id move the compressor as needed, then run ds1>odb3>chorus. The odb3 should fatten up the ds1 when using both. Plenty of people put od after fuzz/dist etc. Try it out, you may see why. In the end, the "proper" order is however you can get the most use of your board, for your music. Move stuff...
