What head would you buy and why?

Any new GK Legacy head, depending on how much power you need.

Would you take a bass to an open mic?

My view is that bass should first be a supporting instrument, it just doesn't work well by itself — unless your someone like Les Claypool. If I am going to an open mic, I will always bring my bass, but its to support the other musicians first.

    NBD (parallel universe content)

Agreed, I have had mine for about 3 weeks now and the sticky is gone. The more you play it, the better the neck feels.

    Ever screw up at rehearsal?

Well at least a B still works with an E. If anyone asks, you could just say you did it on purpose to add some dissonance.

4 Ohm or 8 Ohm Cabs?

Not to Not to mention, two cabs is more stuff to move around. I recommend the Amp HLF 4x10, with the tweeter. It has been a reliable and amazing sounding cab for over 10 years. Go GK for your head.

New Fender Bass wanted. Which one should I buy?

I agree that the McKagan is nice, and it's a PJ too. I'm not sure if they make a MIM version of this, I only played the MIA. Also, you will get a much more versatile sound out of a PJ configuration.

Coming back after 16 years... little help?

I just want to say welcome back to playing. I stopped for about 6 years till my nephew got a guitar for Christmas — I ended up playing it more then he did. Needless to say, when I went home I picked up my bass and haven't set it down since.

    Left hand "piling" up

Also remember to keep your wrist down. When it's up your fingers will naturally pull together. Not sure if this is an issue with you, but it really helps me on runs and such.

Fender Parallel Universe ‘51 Tele PJ

Just bought one this week. A small shop had one in the back tucked away. I went there looking to play the new elite precision, but they didn't have any. So I was trying many different Fenders that had the PJ configuration when the salesman brought this monster out from the back. I will do my...
