This. I wouldn’t experiment beyond parchment, though I’m sure we’ll see some free spirits posting pics of theirs wearing green or red pearl pretty soon...

My vote is black pearl for the guard
View attachment 3320287 View attachment 3320288 I got one of these, loved it, and decided that maybe I’d use it as a platform to go the distance and made a Tractor-ish Frankenstein. I hope this doesn’t offend anyone lol.
Killer! The Curtis Novak Darkstar is incredible, and when you put the Js in series it’s punchy as hell.Holy pick-up Batman!!!! How does she sound?
I've been jonesing for one of these since they were announced. I've always liked a slab body, but not digging the single coil pickup of the '51.
Came with a reasonable set up, so within an hour I was up and playing. Needs a neck shim, but not in a hurry, just so the saddle screws don't stick up out of the saddles. I'll do that when I make the final decision about strings.
Sounds great. Both pickups (CS60's) very usable by themselves, and TERRIFIC together. I've found some PJ's don't do either perfectly, but this one, with just the P on IS a P-bass. The other p/u is just a bonus.
Slab bodies are always heavy. This one is a 10 pounder (my heaviest Fender). Has a serious baseball bat neck. Fit and finish is as good as you'll get from Fender, and not a high fret in the bunch.
A lot of stuff on TB about these being over priced. Hmmm...The edition is done, and I wanted one. Try hard enough and we can justify anything. It's the price of an American Pro+ a night out with my girlfriend.
Strings...I have 2 P-basses with flats, a J with rounds (red devils on candy apple red!), and J with flats....maybe I'll just keep the stock Fender rounds for a while.
Gotta run...my neighbours band asked me to sub on their rehearsal tonite.
EDIT- Tort????

Iv'e had mine for about 4 months now love it. It's everything you said it is. Funny i had to put a neck shim also. I like a low action setup.I've been jonesing for one of these since they were announced. I've always liked a slab body, but not digging the single coil pickup of the '51.

Agreed, I have had mine for about 3 weeks now and the sticky is gone. The more you play it, the better the neck feels.Gloss, and a little sticky, but with nitro, that will go away.
