    Alembic Club at Talk Bass

Aw, bummer. I was all stoked thinking I had found a rare deal, since most gear is overpriced here. I guess I got a little ahead of myself, haha. Thanks a lot, though. I really appreciate it. Saved me from making a financial mistake!

    Alembic Club at Talk Bass

Hey, I figured this would be a decent place to come for info on a used Alembic I found, so uh... here goes. I live in South Korea, and I found a used Stanley Clarke bass on the Korean equivalent of Reverb. The guy is asking $3600 for it, which seems to be a crazy deal for an Alembic to me, a...

What's your LEAST POPULAR bass opinion

You don't need a 34"+ scale for a good low B. The B on my 33" ACG sounds and feels great.

    Kiesel Zeus

I agree with you about the Vader, but I think the opposite is true with the Zeus. The Zeus' proportions look a bit wonky on the guitar version, but I think they really work as a bass. The larger neck helps to bring it all together. If this had a 30" option, it'd likely be my next bass...

"Official" Carvin and Kiesel Club - Part 3

Bummer that 30" scale isn't an option on the ZB. Hopefully it'll become an option at some point.

    The Once-in-a-Lifetime ABG /EABG purchase.

Dunno about their availability outside of Japan, but K. Yairi makes a few, ranging from around $1500 to closer to $4k. Official site (mostly Japanese, sorry!): Invalid Link Removed The Japanse dealer Ikebe-Gakki sells overseas, if anyone's intrested. Here's their K. Yairi selection...

I started playing Bass because I wanted to..…..What’s your reason?

I started playing bass because I wanted to meet people. I moved here to South Korea nearly 6 years ago, but had to stop drinking alcohol and eating meat for medical reasons shortly thereafter. With those two things out of the equation, my socialization options here were nearly destroyed. Since...

Please explain the origin of your user name

Mine's pretty obvious. I like Pillsbury Grands biscuits, it amuses me when people with speech impediments who replace dental fricatives with labio-dental fricatives say the word "moth," and I once found a potato that looked just like Tim Curry.

What was your first bass guitar?

First was a Squier Affinity J in metallic red. Current main is an ACG Skelf 6 multiscale. I'd be hard pressed to find two more dissimilar basses, hahaha.

Bacchus, Show 'em if you've got 'em!

Didn't realize there was a Bacchus thread. I bought and posted an NBD for this one a little over a year ago. It's my Handmade Series PJ Woodline Ash 4.

The NANO Club! the pedaltrain babies or equivalent!!

I wasn't getting any use out of the BEF in my current band, and a band I'm doing some live session work for has a couple songs that could do with some extra dirt, so I swapped out the BEF for an EHX Bass Muff I had gathering dust on a shelf, haha. I had to play a bit of Pedal Tetris to get it to...

Poly octave stranglehold? (or why aren't POG / OC3 types in MULTI EFFECT pedals?)

Really? Huh. I've got an Afx II Mk 2, and I don't really have problems with the E unless I get a little crazy with the harmonies. It does get wobbly below that, though, and isn't reliable at all down at B. I don't really use much octave down, though, so maybe that's it. I mostly use it for...

Poly octave stranglehold? (or why aren't POG / OC3 types in MULTI EFFECT pedals?)

The Fractal Axe-Fx units do poly-octave effects, and the FX8 is an effects-only floor unit version of those. If it can do all the same effects stuff the rackmount modelling versions can do, then it'll do poly-octaves, too. It isn't cheap by any stretch of the imagination, but it's out there.

The NANO Club! the pedaltrain babies or equivalent!!

Baby's first pedalboard: I normally use a Fractal Axe-Fx 2 Mk2 for all my effects needs at home, but I live in Korea without a car, so I have to take the bus everywhere. The Axe-Fx is just too damned big to take on the bus with me and my bass, so I figured why not throw together a Nano...
