Sterling Ball on the New Stingrays

Man, I've been jonesing for a Music Man for years. Any idea if these will be coming to Canada? I'd hate to have to pay to get it over the border.

Shipping basses from USA to Canada... Insight please

I just had Sterling return a Ray4 I had repaired on warranty this past week - UPS wanted $60 CAD as a "brokerage fee". Shipment was valued at 300~ USD. Not sure if it helps, but it's a bit more relevant info.

Who Else Started Bass at 58, or some other crazy old age?

I'm a youngster in this thread, bought my first bass at 28, didn't start practicing it seriously until I turned 33.

    THE teeny-but-worth-it bass combo????

Mesa/Boogie Walkabout Scout combo package, or the Orange Terror Bass Combo. Both are excellent, versatile combos which can play any style you care to name. I don't own either, but have sat down with both and given them a serious workout. edit: I just saw your weight restriction. Sadly...

Squier Affinity Issue - Anyone Else?

Well, I finally had time to go into the city where there's a music shop and picked up two packs of Ernie Ball Super Slinky's, threw a set on this morning after work and the buzz is gone. I did crank down the bridge screws when I had the strings off for the change, but they were already fairly...

Squier Affinity Issue - Anyone Else?

Thanks for all of the suggestions, guys. I've tried everything here, and still nothing. Last resort, I'm going to pick up a pack of strings tomorrow when I'm in town and throw them on, see if it's a bum string. If not, I'm at a loss, I may have to take it in to get it professionally set up /...

Squier Affinity Issue - Anyone Else?

If I ascend the neck, the buzzing gradually gets less and less, even when I pluck the A string really hard - its worst when it's open A, and gradually gets less and less and I approach the middle of the neck, and disappears once I reach the higher frets.

Squier Affinity Issue - Anyone Else?

Thanks, 5String. Unfortunately, I've already tried most of what you've suggested - checked all screws and attachment points, bridge adjustment, pickup screws, etc. I also completed a setup going by the guide on the Fender website and the neck is still in alignment. I'm completely at a loss as to...

Squier Affinity Issue - Anyone Else?

So I purchased one of the Fender starter packs back in 2010, and have been teaching and practicing on my own since. Recently, after a three month hiatus, I came back to my bass, tuned it up, and I now find that when I dig in hard on the A string, there is a loud, atonal buzzing noise coming from...

Soviet Tonika Bass - Exploded (Pic Heavy)

Damn. Look at how hard he has to grip the neck to fret properly. I can practically see the bulging veins in his neck. Sounds a lot better than I expected when I saw those bar magnets, however!

    Matt Freeman Squier Sig!!!!!

So what if Fender is releasing "yet another" P-Bass. The fact that they're doing more than plumbing the stadium rock crowd, or the funk wanksters who sound like they have eight thumbs for artists is a welcome change. Operation Ivy and Rancid may not be your particular taste in music, but you...

    Bass Assassination Attempt!

Um. There's no minimum limit on bringing charges for wilful damage or mischief where I'm from, not sure about your area. If the school isn't willing to discipline or deal with this issue, go talk to the police yourself. This isn't simple teasing or prankstering - once you start damaging...

USA band playing in Canada - What happens at the boarder?

A little planning beforehand saves a lot of trouble further on down the road. And sometimes, it can depend on who you get working the crossing that day. I've worked with CBSA on inter-agency stuff, and like any law enforcement, there's cool guys and there's jerks. The same holds true for US...

USA band playing in Canada - What happens at the boarder?

Not quite sure what you mean by "permit". Is someone telling you that you need to get a work visa for a single night gig? That seems highly unlikely. Your best bet would be to phone Canada Border Services Agency and ask them directly: Welcome to the Canada Border Services Agency |...

what is the weirdest thing you've ever seen with your band?

Did the "undercover cop" flip tin to show he was a cop? I'm not a UC guy, but I am an RCMP officer, and I don't know a single UC operator dumb enough to wear his gun like that. Sorry, no gig stories, just work stories (and they don't count).
