I used to own the shoreline gold one (regret selling it since day 1) ... super killer 5er. Pretty sure the FB was brazilian rosewood. The GC asking price is a bit steep, should be around 2.5K.
I also think Elixirs are great, have used them for 10+ years. They sometimes change their sourcing (e.g. string manufacturer and/or specs), but usually the end-product works well, even the B-strings are consistently good.
It can definitely help with wood density/resonance issues -- I've used one on my cheapest/crappiest bass and guitar headstocks over the years, and it does work like a charm. They aren't very expensive, either.
It's #1, unless I know the church has a good amp/di setup (rare).
Compressor-->Darkglass pedal (alpha-omega) with IR/cab sim. Once I tried using the IR in the signal chain to FOH a few years ago, I never looked back!
Yeah, big influence when I started playing bass as well. He has such a unique approach to phrasing and technique. He can make the most mundane arrangement and turn it into a groove masterpiece.
It's dated, but still a gem ...
Wondering if any of you all have experience/history with this LG --

Price seems a tad high, but it looks very interesting. Perhaps 19mm string spacing?
Odds are it was probably refinished by a previous owner (e.g. not by Mike/Daniel) ... makes it a little less authentic-y in the MTD community, but it probably still looks/plays killer.
