Elixir - My favorite Bass strings

Agreed. I've been using Elixir for 10+ years, wish I had found them sooner. I would change strings on multiple basses once or twice a month. Not anymore. I've tried deviating on occasion, but have never really liked any of the other coated offerings. Plus, they offer an extra long scale that fits on my Kiesel multi scale Vanquish, but only at 45-105. I use the extra lights on my multi scale Zeus.

Elixir Strings Nickel Plated Steel <<< the best string in my opinion, they sound amazing for different styles, last forever and they even make weak B string basses sound great!

I have tried many dif. strings, but to me, they are worth every dollar!!

WELL worth the extra cost...easily pay for themselves.

Love them but an absolute disaster on my G&L LB-100 due to noise & poor grounding with the coating, never a problem on my EBMMs
I bought my Stingray Special from a fellow TB'er who put on a fresh set of Elixirs before I picked up the bass. I never tried them before, so I left them on to give them a fair chance. I was enjoying them, so about a year later I replaced the nickel Lo Riders on my ceramic Stingray (a 5HH from the era when they came with the preamp and ceramic pickups from the Sterling 5) with a set of Elixirs. Then about three years ago I bought my Big Al from the same TB'er and he put a fresh set of Elixirs on that bass, too.

So I have Elixirs on all three of my Musicmans and I like them quite a lot. I still like nickel Lo Riders, too, but the Elixirs have really impressed me, even as they age. I bought that Stingray Special about four years ago and I still have that same set of strings on it. I really like well broken in nickel rounds, and the coating on the Elixirs makes them age slowly enough that I may never have to change them again unless I want to try different strings. :smug:

Hi, I wanted to ask you a question. I have a Stingray and a Jazz Bass, and I was thinking of putting Elixir SS strings on them. Would you recommend 100-45 or 105-45 gauge strings? I play mostly fingerstyle and a little bit of slap bass, but I'm getting into it more and more. Thank you.
