    Life during retail

I already paid my dues in retail. Brace yourself, amigo. Btw, there is one that just floored me concerning retail that I read in some blog about record stores. A guy comes into a record store and asks if they sell any Beatles copulations. :bassist:

    The direction music is headed?

Anyone remember "You say yes, I say no, you say stop, and I say go go go...oh no"?

    We've Glorified Weakness

You're absolutely right. It's just what I see over here in California goes against that thought.

    We've Glorified Weakness

I did them too Zulu, in the mid 70s during high school. Yes, there were (even then) field work and greasy spoon jobs that my classmates wouldn't even get near and were taken by illegal aliens. I also did cushy work at JC Penny, a photo shop, etc... but I had to hustle for those and take lots of...

    We've Glorified Weakness

Spot on! Being of that heritage, most of my "illegal" brothers are either at Home Depot looking for day jobs or working in the dirtiest, low-paying jobs that US nationals won't touch with a ten foot pole.

Using subwoofer to transcribe bass lines?

Yes, I've heard that, but what kind of gear do you need for that?

Using subwoofer to transcribe bass lines?

I've tried this...with minimal results. There was still a lot of bleed from other instruments. However, this subwoofer trick, if you wanna call it that, emulates the isolated bass lines you hear on YouTube. Mind you, I've also returned to vinyl this year and I've noticed better isolation on the...

Using subwoofer to transcribe bass lines?

Does anyone do this? I just stumbled upon this. When I turn off my main speakers on my receiver and let the subwoofer play alone, the bass part comes out with amazing accuracy. You will hear a little bleed from the vocals but very minimal. I'm excited!

    Bass chorus/compressor tweaking suggestions

Thanks for the reply and the link, Bongo. You're right, it's definitely different for all rigs. ;) I'll keep on experimenting.

    notation instead of tabs

Amen to that! I started on tabs...of course. Later discovered that tabs are the equivalent of 'giving a man a fish and feeding him for one day', you do him a disservice. Nowadays I use only notation and find it easier to read than tabs. Since I subscribed to Scott Devine's bass lessons on...

    Bass chorus/compressor tweaking suggestions

Hi guys, I just added a Boss CEB bass chorus to my MarkBass compressore and am finally starting to get the sound I've been after for several years. Being that the Boss and Markbass manuals are so brief and offer hardly any info on tweaking the sound, voila...I thought who better to ask than the...

    Cable input shorting

Hello TB community. Can anyone tell me why my cable input on my Peavey Fury bass is occasionally cutting off and staticky? It also scares the hell outta me cause when it does, the amp speakers sound like they're gonna explode. All my other basses sound and play perfect, btw. Is it something...

Freda Payne - "Band Of Gold"

Infusion26 does a great cover of it on YouTube. In fact he's my go to guy when I need help, however, he only plays by ear so don't expect tabs.
