    “Heavy Metal” Jazz?

Soften the Glare for sure. And I'd suggest checking out Thank You Scientist. It's not jazz necessarily, but definitely has some of those elements.

Michael Britt Profiles Introduces ‘It’s Just Bass’ Profile Pack by Steve Cook

Ayyyye that's my dude! Get it Steve! We were both on a country festival bill a couple years back. What a good dude.

    Someone plays better than you?

I don't change anything when a player is better than me. I am who I am and that's okay.

What were your last 3 basses or bass related purchases of this year?

This is the only thing I bought in 2019. Player Precision in Tidepool with a tort guard, and some EXL220s for it. I did sell several basses this year though.

Found an awesome Warwick bass, hate the hardware color. Worth it?

The Streamer LX comes with gold hardware, so your options are buy it and change the hardware or buy it and leave the hardware. "Waiting for one with the hardware color you like" isn't really an option.

Was asked if I wanted to do a solo and said No! A mistake or not?

If I had time to prepare a solo, I'd take one. But I hate being put on the spot on a gig. I'm not that guy. You want me to improvise a groove for you to play over? I got you. You want me to write and arrange an entire song on the spot? I got you. But you want me to take an impromptu solo right...

Would you buy a bass without trying it out due to it impossible to try?

Of the nearly 60 basses I've owned, I tried out exactly 4 of them before purchase. Trying out basses first is literally worthless to me. Without setting them up to my preferences with my choice of strings, the way it plays has no value. Once I get it set up how I want, I know what I have, and...

Why are tube amps not as widely used by modern bass players?

I had one a few years ago (Mesa Prodigy) and it's just a totally different animal. Almost like the power comes on differently than with solid state or Class D. I compare it to the difference between a 2-stroke and a 4-stroke dirt bike. Whichever one you're most familiar with is probably going to...

    What would you expect?

I spent several years in my teens keeping all my gear in my car at all times, and never had a single issue with a bass or any other piece. The biggest thing I always worried about was a difference in humidity. Temperature on its own doesn't really seem to affect wood all that much, in my...

Why I NEVER Vent On Here About Band Problems

You're easily in my top 2 or 3 favorite people on TB. Might even be #1. Always good insight in your posts. It's people like you who keep me coming back when so many others make me want to log off for good. haha

Why I NEVER Vent On Here About Band Problems

Love this post. I've only made one thread on TB in my 15 years here about a problem with a bandmate (drummer, coincidentally), and I ended up quitting the band over it (it was the most successful band I've ever been in, and the first one I ever got royalty checks from, so I walked away from a...

GAS in other realms of life (mine is hockey jerseys)

Maybe some day when the kids are out of the house I could pull that off. Sounds liberating! How do you guys account for mutual items, like pots and pans? Whose total do those go on? Or are those separate from your personal belongings you're getting under 100? Sorry for the all the questions, I...

GAS in other realms of life (mine is hockey jerseys)

I was never heavy into trains, but good grief I love Luke Towan's videos on YouTube. Breathtaking dioramas in HO scale: I feel you on the 2-wheel front, though I'm addicted to the motorized variety. I have 3 vintage dual sports (2 British, 1 Japanese), 2 vintage British street bikes, and a...
