“Heavy Metal” Jazz?

Swing is a great feel often used in jazz but I wouldn't say that it inputs "jazz" into a particular piece.
This has a jazz chord in it, but the tempo might be a disqualifier. It's my favorite Country & Western band too.
Soften the Glare for sure. And I'd suggest checking out Thank You Scientist. It's not jazz necessarily, but definitely has some of those elements.
Another vote here for early Mahavishnu Orchestra; I was fortunate to be in a band in my late college years that was a combination straight ahead jazz and fusion band, and we covered a lot of stuff from Mahavishnu. Hard stuff to learn, but worthwhile. 45 years later, still probably was the best band with the most talent that I’ve ever been part of.
I read through this whole thread and am surprised no one mentioned The Contortionist. This album in particular is jaw droppingly good.

Early Megadeth comes to mind. Chris Poland (guitar) and Gar Samuelson (drums) were jazz fusion players recruited by Dave Mustaine to play metal. They really brought some swing to those early records ('Killing is My Business' and 'Peace Sells').
Of course Black Sabbath could swing too in their early days. Bill Ward is the unsung hero of those early Sabbath records with his jazz licks.

Hahaaa! Great question, great thread. Of course one title must be mentioned here: The brecker Brothers' album HEAVY METAL BEBOP! The title says it all.
