I would take a Explorer over the Tbird any day!!! Much better design, the Hamer Explorer I owned was 10 times the bass my Gibson Blackbird ever wouldve been(sold both a long time ago)

I agree with trying out a thumbpick, you might get the best of both worlds, that and the bassist from Ratt used one back in the day for this very reason(switching back and forth)

It helps to chisel the outline out first before cutting, that and remarking the shape throughout

Subscribed, ive actually been attempting what the OP is describing over the last week. Just a dremel saw max, forstener, files and chisels. I made 6 of these trying to get it right!! Lol

On my Ironbird, both pups are the same LH500, I dont know anything about their other pups. Dimarzios are standard in BC Rich guitars and basses, so you cant go wrong with their precision pups, though if you want some extra special sounding pups, I recommend Janktone custom pups. They sound...

I hate to break this to you, but Lorne(Peakman) passed away last week :( he was a good dude, I learned alot about BCR from him. RIP
