    Red Witch Zeus or Factotum?

I've loved octave pedals for a long time, mostly OC-2s. Haven't had one for awhile but now am building a small pedal board. The Red Witch Zeus intrigued me 'cause it has fuzz circuitry, and although not a big fuzz guy, some slight distortion is something I want on occasion. So, picked up a Zeus...

Thanks, Jake. I'll take it under advisement ;-)

Double Bass Fingerboard oil/conditioner for NXT.

Hey Jake, not being a frequent poster and while quickly scanning the post, I saw the words “linseed oil,” erroneously detected ignorance, and dashed off a quick response not realizing I was responding to a pro. Embarrassing. However, though my response would have been different, my...

Double Bass Fingerboard oil/conditioner for NXT.

Not sure I'd use linseed oil. Linseed oil is a drying oil, which, unless you get every last trace of it off, will dry and leave a hardened film. It will also get sticky during the drying process. That's, of course, if you don't get it all off. IMO plain mineral oil is a better choice. And unless...

    Another Tru-Oil question. Sorry.

You might try a water-based stain or dye. A number of years ago a Danish woodworker friend had a whole range of dyes pre-mixed in small bottles, and he let me use some to dye a shotgun stock I was refinishing. Stuff worked great and, of course, using Tru Oil over it was no problem. I couldn't...

    bass cleaning

For anything from swirls to more serious marks and/or abrasions, try Quixx. It works miracles on a finish. Was recommended to me by a luthier friend who I'd trust with anything regardless of value. I used it on a bass that hadn't been abused, but showed definite signs of wear. It looked like new...

    Photoshop Request - Fender P

Lovely bass and nice flame. I think anything but a plain pick guard detracts from the wood (think less is more). I don't mind the white and agree that black could really be nice.

    Drill press... ooops!

If the repair is sanded completely flush with the surrounding wood, then the deft application of correctly mixed artists oil paint would make it disappear completely. If you've an eye for color it should be fairly easy to do it yourself. Otherwise, if you know a painter ask for help. PM me if...

    How old are you?

I'll be 70 in a few days. Got my first guitar when I was 12 or 13. Discovered the electric bass maybe a year or so later and was immediately hooked. My first bass was a Dano, but before long I realized Fender was king and bought a new (probably) '59 P. Then Fender announced the Jazz Bass and I...

    Got Art?

Thanks, sneha. This one is 70" x 46". I used to work at close to that size quit a bit years ago but not as much these days. The large commission I mentioned was 13' x 15'. Wouldn't do that again. Really like some of your stuff, too. Those ceramic sculptures and abstracts were especially nice, I...

    Got Art?

It only occurred to me to post this image after seeing Blazer's post about P-51 Mustangs and then seeing this thread; it seemed the logical thing to do. I've always loved the P-51, and I made this painting as a gift to myself after finishing a very large commission. For many years I had been...

    coolest band names ever.

In Minneapolis some years ago, two or three gals who were fabulous singers with great reps around town put together a fine backing band and called the band "Women Who Cook." Not too long after that a group of guys who were also some of the very best and well-known musicians in town formed a...
