    Black Widow Speakers Good Speakers?

Definitely a BW. Not sure which basket model I need to replace it. Big hole and rip. It's been repaired once already as well.

Cat piss. Or some kind of gnarly bug spray. It's grody.

    Black Widow Speakers Good Speakers?

It's a decent sized, ragged looking hole. Larger than a half-dollar. Of course I'm not going to just order parts if I don't know what I actually have. That's why I asked about replacement parts, because if Peavey isn't making them anymore, I'd likely just look for a new speaker. I'm 90% sure...

    Black Widow Speakers Good Speakers?

That's good to know. I'll go pull the thing and see whats what. Maybe I'll even find a date inside to clue me in.

    Black Widow Speakers Good Speakers?

So what's the word on getting a new Black Widow or getting one reconed/rebuilt? I got an old Peavey 115 Combo today that I'm going to start working on. I'm guessing it's from the 90s, but might be early 2000s. Blue line under the control thing and the original Peavey logo. Says it was made in...

David Ellefson: Debuts His New Jackson X Series Signature Concert Bass

Reminds me of his old Peavey Zodiac DE Scorpio basses.

    Schecter Apocalypse or Ibanez SR670?

The basswood vs. mahogany thing baffles me though. You're playing an electric bass, not a xylophone. You're going through an amp and cab, possibly some effects. Nobody is going to hear the non-ferrous wood through the magnetic pickups, through the preamp, through the amp and cab, over the...

    Schecter Apocalypse or Ibanez SR670?

Yes. That was the main reason I bought that bass, with the second being the 35" scale. The neck feeling great is just a bonus. I was playing in a kind of thrashy/nu metal type thing a few years ago and need a 5-string. I liked the P-bass split coil sound but it can be a little wooly if you're...

    Schecter Apocalypse or Ibanez SR670?

I've owned both Schecter and Ibanez basses although neither of those. The Ibanez is long gone. The Schecter is still my main bass. It's a Stiletto Stealth 5 string and I absolutely love it. Tonally, there was just no comparison. The Schecter blew the Ibanez away.

Question about old Peavey Max Bass 700

My main amp is as mentioned above, a Max Bass 700. I really like the amp and the power it delivers. I ran across an old thread though, and was curious about something said in it. in this thread Is there any difference between a Peavey Max 700 & Firebass? @BbbyBld Bld talks about the...

    Fender Dimension is Discontinued

Fender has made one critical difference in their instrument business compared to Gibson. Fender, in doing their corporate brand buying, left the companies they've purchased intact. So while the Dimension seems like an attempt to grab some of the Lakland or Music Man customers, Fender doesn't...

    Squier Precision 5-String Club

So guys, I did a thing. Routed out for a split coil and used the pickguard and pickup from my 4 string P-bass. The pickup isn't quite right for the bass but I'm ordering an Alumitone PJ set from Lace which they tell me will work for a 5er. -edit- I'm not sure if its just the difference in...

ATTN: Three Piece Bassists. How Do You Fatten Your Sound?

In my old band, which was 3-piece, we played in some seriously low tunings which made it hard to fill in when the guitar would go up for a solo. I used a little distortion all the time anyway, but what really helped was a chorus pedal and playing up a step or two during solo runs. Without that...

players who are ashamed of having "entry level" brand instruments...

Exactly! It's all a matter of how much you play and where you play. Modern manufacturing means that a CNC-cut body is cheaper than having someone build one by hand. The CNC machine doesn't care in which country it lives. An American Fender Strat body is basically the same as an Indonesian Squier...

Especially if you get something like the Epiphone Thunderbird with the Gibson USA pickups in it. I played one in a Guitar Center and it sounded great!
