God damn it people. Since my own purge almost a year ago I’ve survived on one bass. I’m allowed to get one more but only if it’s a 5 string, and I can’t decide! However I’m allowed to keep my 14+ cameras (I can only think of the ones I’ve seen in the last week)

If you can get hold of some sheet music for Chopin's Etudes, try playing some of the arpeggios in there. If might give you a seizure, but it'll do somethig amazing for how you play too. I was learning classical piano for years before picked up a bass and (at the time) found the "normal" bass...

It actually made that final bit of difference I was looking for ! Both the advice on winding to the bottom (on the other side of the photo the winding is lower than it appears), and putting this “stealth” gizmo on, each lent to eliminating that irksome “attack timber”. Even with the stiffest...

But. Where’s the battery go? :P Was switcheding MXR Reverb to stereo for a bit. And discovered that it’s got a very decent Cirrus Logic ADAC chippy inside. No wonder it’s an awesomely sounding little guy.

Put this “stealth string retainer” from fender on a few hours ago, and it’s kind of??? Photos speak for themselves. It can’t take the tension of the string. Almost gets lifted to the angle of the string without it. And hasn’t made much difference to the angle compared to photo above. But...

When I get around to to making a 5V plug to plug into the Gate jack on this thing it will be... My FAVOURITE effects pedal!!!! It’ll work. IT WILL WORK!

New strings on two days ago. Wound to bottom of the post (see photo). Yet the break angle of the A still isn’t what I’d call “good” (see photo). But It’s the best angle possible, without screwing on another tree. In a nut shell, your suggestion worked. Sounds better than before. Thanks...
