    DarkRay or Stingray Special?

Nah, sold it awhile back. I'm rocking a ebmm 4hh special now. Started playing in a blues group, and it really didn't serve a purpose. Will say though, the dark ray held its value, and I didn't lose out mush on the sale.

New Aguilar fuzz pedal: Storm King

At this point now, I really just use mine as a tube simulator. It does that pretty well, but I feel mostly ripped off by agi

New Aguilar fuzz pedal: Storm King

It works great as a low gain tube setting, high gain distortion, and paired with an octave for synth sounds when it's aimed out. But for a fuzz it works, you just need a blend to keep your low end.

New Aguilar fuzz pedal: Storm King

Had this pedal for awhile now. Haven't used it live, but plenty of time at rehearsal. Where I think aguilar dropped the ball with it, is not having a blend knob. You can get some really useful tones, but when you pop it on to blaze some fuzz, it loses all the bottom end and wash out in the mix...

Tech 21 Bass Fly Rig v2

Try putting your comp at about 8oclock, level at unity, then the fuzz off octave on. Q needs to be all the way backed off, blend at 11oclock, and range somewhere around 10-11oclock. The sound i get from my stingray and jazz is pretty sweet. I don't do any super fast runs with it, but when you do...

Tech 21 Bass Fly Rig v2

The comp on the bfr2 is usable by itself when I run it alone into my focusrite, but when I'm running through my rig I'll use my mxr comp with it. Bfr2 comes first with a little comp to control my guitar, then patch in my drive, wah, and envelope filter through the loop. Pretty much just use the...

Tech 21 Bass Fly Rig v2

I've noticed the same thing with the fuzz. I makes a cool effect with some of the stuff I mess with. You really have to play around with the octafuzz to get it sounding good, and use the comp with it. What I've noticed is that it's all very touch sensitive on your attack and muting.

    DarkRay or Stingray Special?

Would live to see you do a review on it and get your impressions. Loved the the diy build when you did that

    DarkRay or Stingray Special?

So I've just recently bought a DarkRay, and I'm enjoying it, but going back and forth about returning it. To start, I sat in the store for about three hours going back and forth between a MM SR5HH special and the DarkRay. The sound clean is very different, but similar at the same time. The...

    Mononeon Signature Jazz Bass?

I'm really liking the 22 fret and roasted neck. I wish fender would pass this on to their other player series, and just stop with the pau ferro fret board. I had a mim pbass deluxe a few years back and I added a stack pot at the mid controls to give me a passive tone knob. That gave me the same...

    New Fender Boxer 2020

Not to start up a dead thread, but I've been wanting to build a bass. I think it would be worth my fancy to buy two bodies, say one alder and one basswood, then compare. Use the same neck, hardware, and strings. No paint on the bodies just straight AB to a daw with no eq, then mic it from an amp...

    Compare Ibanez vs Spector

I haven't voted for any you put up, cause I found myself at the same issue looking for a new fiver. I will say that I've owned each brand and this really is a tough choice. I had a corvette that was my work horse for 12 years until I sold it to up grade my rig and started playing my p bass more...

    Ampeg PF20T vs. PF50T

The struggle is real with that price. The used one, that I'm currently kicking myself in the a$$ for not grabbing, was $750 for the 50t. The only way I can justify it is that the 50t really sounded like a small V4b. If you look at the other tube options from ampeg (v4b, svt-cl, and if you...

    Ampeg PF20T vs. PF50T

Thought this would be the spot to ask this. I'm kinda addicted to the PF line up and loving my RB210. Well I was at my local shop (always a dangerous place for me, and my wallet) but I stumbled upon a used pf50t. I loved the sound of it and it was at a good price. Went back a couple days later...

Anyone replace the stock speakers in their Ampeg PF-115HE & 210HE cabs?

Ok ok ok ok, so, I'm no longer a skeptic if the use just matching cabs, or mix them if they sound good to you then great thing. I'm sorry but I'm jumping on the Wiseman bandwagon and saying just use matching cabs. This is all with the pf ampeg line, but I started with the pf800 115he and 115lf...
