    Pedal Chain Dilemma

I have a pedal board that has up to recently been no issue, but with the advent of my church's new Presonus board, have some new audio artifacts. Diving in, I use a MOD Dwarf to run 2 inputs (Neck Puckup / Bridge Pickup split) and 2 outputs (Clean / Effects). The neck pickup has minimal...

Why did you quit a band?

I haven't quit... but for many reasons I am considering a change. These are the top 3. 1) My vision and the band's vision are very different. 2) Too many cooks in the kitchen - with 6 heads in the band it digs pretty deeply into the $$. 3) Drama.

Why do so many 5 & 6 string players NEVER use their low B?

Surreal. I have a 5 and 2 4s. When I play my 4s I miss my B string IMMEASURABLY. My five is fretless and it’s pickups aren’t as hot as the pups on my J or Tbird, so I play up more often than I like. It’s a travesty to have the low B and skip it. Why anyone would omit using it makes no sense to me.

    Bass Capo

BRILLIANT!! I was considering something like this for some of our stuff - biggest problem of this setup I've found is that the bottom misses. BUT If I did high chords with a LOW octaver it may sound fuller than if I run an UP octave effect.

Squier Bass Self-Help and Personal Affirmations Club

Time to mod again. Not happy with the tuning mechanisms, and it’s buzzy. I’m going to have to pull out my wiring and shield everything. Eventually it could be a good bass, but right now I relegate it to practice duty.

What's the best compliment you've ever received about your playing?

We recorded the last gig. I got a huge compliment basically asking me to sing more, and that received the best applause of the night (even though I'm technically not the 'front man', I seemed to be the center of attention...). I get that sometimes when I play for church. So for all the boring...

    Bass Capo

This was originally why I purchased one. I WILL use it if needed - I ain't scared =)

    Bass Capo

It's a dead thread but I'm adding this: Another one bites the Dust by Queen was done originally tuned UP 1/2 step. To cover that one (in F) it's doable with a 5-er or, with a 4-str and a capo. I was always in the Oh Hell NO camp until I had to switch into Another One bites the dust and get the...

Getting the Facts about Ski Jumps

I ended up taking my bass in - they started with a a setup, but ended up leveling the frets. I'd stay as far away from heat as possible unless it's EXTREMELY necessary. When all else fails, take it to a REAL pro and get a good assessment.

    Thunderbird Club

Been on a bit of a guitar kick the past few weeks. Started picking up rhythm for my church gig. All the while, my gorgeous t-bird has been hiding in its case. I plan to pull out the 'bird for both my bass requirements this week - it's been a long drought.

    Do you name your basses?

I name them alright... the Thunderbird the Fretless the Jazz... ...and (trick answer, I know) the Kat (my AlleyKat guitar)

One Bass to do it all?

HA I was doing fine with my T-Bird Vintage Pro backing up my fretless for songs I didn't need a 5-er for. Maybe that's what I should do - 5 string t-bird =)

One Bass to do it all?

Same-Ish kinda thing for me. My big issue now is that I need ANOTHER bass if I want a lower cost 5-stringer. Plus a fretted 5-er would be a good call. I'm not a fan of the Ibanez basses (Lost that love affair as I grew up) and I'm really not a huge fan of active basses. And since I'm not...

One Bass to do it all?

MAN I can relate. I have my Bunny Brunel fretless 5 that I started using for EVERYTHING, but realized quickly that just because I CAN do everything with one bass doesn't mean I should. I discovered a few things as I acquired a Thunderbird and a Squier Jazz bass along the way... 1) I LOVE a 5...
