    FATRAT pedalboard solution.

I don't have a standard RAT on hand to check, but I'm pretty sure the screw hole spacing on the FATRAT is wider than the standard. So unfortunately, I don't think so.

    FATRAT pedalboard solution.

I was trying to figure out how best to attach a FATRAT to a pedalboard and not having a whole lot of luck. I couldn't get the screws all the way in to just slap velcro over them and the screws can't be removed because they hold the housing together. I came up with a solution in TinkerCad and 3-d...

What you wish you knew before you built your first pedalboard...

    1. Overdrives don't do much into solid state amps 2. Noise gates rule. Especially if you live in an area with old houses where the grounding was done in a really half-a**ed manner in the 60's by DIYers. 3. You don't need that many pedals. 4. HM-2s exist.

Do you apply any custom decorations to your instrument?

I got an inexpensive Bronco a few years back with the sole intention of modding. I tried going for a vintage 1950's halloween theme. New pickup, put a few coats of orange and clear coat on the pickguard, 2 strat syle knobs: 1 cream, 1 black with gold painted lettering, black felt washers for the...

PYPB 44: ...like Tetris with boxes, wires and cables

I am not an effects expert whatsoever, but after screwing around with different pedals over the past few years I think I finally figured out something decent for Classic Rock/Metal/Doom. (Tone knob settings subject to change.) Bass>Freqout>NS-2(Send>TU-3>Big Muff>Hell Melter>Cry Baby>Hot...

Too much oil on Pau Ferro?

This isn't, strictly speaking, for a bass but the question isn't bass specific so i figured there wouldn't be any harm posting this here.... I recently got a rather nice MIM strat with a Pau Ferro fretboard on it that seemed very dry to me. Looking it up, i found out that Pau Ferro isn't super...

Can overtuning a string break a truss rod?

I don't see any cracks anywhere around the neck joint. I think i got lucky on this one.

Can overtuning a string break a truss rod?

I started doing adjustments to make sure it was moving the relief as bholder suggested and it definitely wasn't loose, and i didn't notice a significant change in relief after the initial noise. I was able to get it to bow/straighten after adjustments and it had tension either way i adjusted the...

Can overtuning a string break a truss rod?

I have...significant paranoia when it comes to truss rods. I was tuning up a new Epiphone EB-0 and overtightened the E string all the way to A (I wasn't paying close enough attention, i had something on my mind) and i heard a pop/cracking noise. The logical part of my brain is telling me that...

The Official Short Scale Bass Club -- Part 4

Thought i was done, but i suppose not. A couple of updates on The Halloween Special. Found a Hipshot extender cheap on Amazon and after scrubbing some rust off the outside threading with a wire brush and some WD-40 (Will definitely be going through Hipshot themselves if i want to buy one again...

Checking tuning machine (Bass extender) for interior rust?

Yeah, it is a GB7. I was hoping there was a way to check without completely stripping it down. I don't trust myself to rip it apart and then be able to put it back together correctly. Since everything seems smooth on it and there sgould be factory lube in it, I think i'm just going to leave it...

Checking tuning machine (Bass extender) for interior rust?

To try to make a long story short, i happen to be going through some rough times at the moment and i wanted to buy myself a new toy. I notice that Hipshot bass extenders were on Amazon for about 70 bucks so i bought one as a fun little install project to take my mind off a few things. It comes...

Love the Bassist, hate the band

Since people have already mentioned The Who and Mr.Big, my big one is Red Hot Chilli Peppers. I like Flea, but i think they are extremely overrated/ played.

The Official Short Scale Bass Club -- Part 4

Thank you for the compliments! :) Yeah, it was a Dremel hand tool, not sure what model. I think i used a bit that was actually intended for cutting tile and i used one of the little sanding drums to bevel the edge. There are probably better tools to do that with but thats what i had access to.
