Looking for a bass practice device (headphones) with an Aux in

I also use the BigHead. I bought the older version just as the new version was being released and got a good price. The sound is great, it's small, it does everything I need it to do and nothing more.

Double Bass All in with 5ths tuning

When I was in 5ths, I still played electric in 4ths. I would occasionally get confused and play the wrong note, but it didn't happen very often. There's no way I'd be able to switch between 4ths and 5ths on upright wthout getting confused, it has to be one or the other. Even for tunes I knew...

Double Bass All in with 5ths tuning

I've been on TB for years (although not always active), and I can't believe I never thought to look here for stuff related to playing in 5ths. I'm back in 4ths now, but I was in 5ths for a few years. I've recently been thinking of going back to 5ths, because I miss it. The only reason I...

The "Synth bass tones from a regular bass" club

Many people said that finding a filter can be an almost endless journey, and I never believed them until I started looking for a new one to replace my Mu-Tron III. But it's true! After buying and selling many filter pedals, I'm 90% satisfied with my Iron Ether Xerographe Deluxe. But I will one...

The "Synth bass tones from a regular bass" club

Here's a little video I recorded the other day, just playing around.

The "Synth bass tones from a regular bass" club

I agree that good technique and articulation is essential for emulating a lot of synth bass sounds, but there are many things that are simply not possible with a plucked string. Anything with a slow attack, anything with a long sustain, anything with a linear or logarithmic delay. If you're...

The "Synth bass tones from a regular bass" club

I've been curious about that pedal, as well, for the same reason. A gated fuzz can only do so much. There's even a couple Attack Decay pedals available locally, but I'm deep in the modular synth rabbit hole so I haven't picked one up.

    ring modulators!

I'm really enjoying my Randy's Revenge, but the one thing I would like is expression pedal control over the mix. I'm pretty sure this could be programmed with the Radius, so I may have to try one out....

Moogerfooger MF-101 Lowpass Filter Pedal alternative

I'm not certain a simple low pass filter will get the same kind of sound as what's in the IG video. When I listen to the clip again, yes it's a big fat dubby sound, but there's high end there still. The note definition is very good. When I was trying to get a similar sound with the XD, the...

Moogerfooger MF-101 Lowpass Filter Pedal alternative

Thread has really gotten the wheels turning. Sorry I'm kind of hijacking it. Last night I tried to get a similar tone with my Xerograph Deluxe, out of curiosity. I know you're not interested in getting the XD, and I understand, I held off for a long time too, for the same reasons. Anyways, I...

Where do you put your ring mod in your signal chain?

Pedal to add grit with LS-2

I'm also a fan of the Li'l Fella. I use a LS-2 as well, but a little differently I have two effect loops, one that's a more classic synthy thing and another that's more weirdness. It gets really interesting when they're in parallel! Anyways, each loop has a dirt pedal. The synthy one has the...

Favorite reverb and delay combo pedal?

I really like my Keeley Caverns. I haven't tried many others, though. If I had one criticism of the pedal, it would be that there's no tap tempo for the delay. But the sound is superb, especially the reverb.

Moogerfooger MF-101 Lowpass Filter Pedal alternative

Oh boy, there's one available second hand nearby for a good price, I may have to pick it up.... I seem to be collecting envelope filters.
