    OFFICIAL Steinberger Synapse club

I didn't realize my first sentences was cutoff. I finished replacing the EMG 40P with a split coil Seymour Duncan NYC-5 (bridge p/u matched the narrow string-to-string separation of the synapse best)....(Now read above post)

I ended up using a DPDT 3 position switch to get serial, parallel, and single coil options for the mag-side of the preamp. Piezo was kept...I have to say the tone of the piezo changed once I unplugged the active EMG, a lot more meat to it. Maybe I'm crazy. I snuck the switch more or less...

    Can I wire a 6 pole on/on switch for 2 HBs for series/parallel switching?

Agree, two switches gives you better options if you want that. Or a switch like the freeway, while more expensive, gives you all the options in one multi-switch unit.

Wiring help needed for series/parallel using 3 terminal switch

It is probably a mini toggle switch, and you can find the same fit, just in a 6-terminal DPDT type. If you get a On-On version, you can select between series and parallel, or if you get an on-on-on (3 position. Still 6 terminal DPDT), then you can have series, parallel, plus a single coil...

    Pickup Select Switch options

I swapped an EMG 40P5 for a SD NYC-5 pickup in my Steinberger Synapse. The NYC is a split coil, and I'd like serial, parallel, and single coil options. I've seen this done with a DPDT on-on-on switch, and would be happy with that. The existing preamp is custom to this bass, with 4 pots...

My strings arrived (with the usual candy from sweetwater), so it's a legit deal.

I had put my name in for a backorder-notification, and was contacted the strings are on their way to me. Sorry if I'm wrong and they're still listed as backordered...hope its just a delay to getting them relisted as in stock.

    OFFICIAL Steinberger Synapse club

As of this past week. Sweetwater has new sets of Steinberger Double Ball strings. I'd guess a factory run was made, and there might be stock around for now.

    OFFICIAL Steinberger Synapse club

I have it paired with an Axon50...many years old, but still one of the fastest paths to midi/synths. It does seem to prefer pick playing for that instant attack and early note detection, but it works with finger style. I honestly use my Source Audio C4 Synth pedal more these days, it just...

    OFFICIAL Steinberger Synapse club

Just thought I'd drop a note about my Synapse 5, which was mostly stock for the past 10 years, except for replacing the headstock due to usual failure in clamping a normal B string. But yesterday I swapped the EMG 40P5 for Seymour Duncan NYC5-neck p/u. (The bridge versions alnico poles are too...

SBMM Ray4 HH - Pickup wiring diagram (and modifications)

Thanks for these wiring diagrams, and hour or so later, this bass has options! I placed both switches next to the output jack.

    Ambitious Musicman Sterling upgrade

I just received two on-on switches for my Ray4HH, to add in parallel - serial options. Open the back plate, and take a look between those knobs, the wood makes a little tight depending on the size of the switch body. I'm leaning toward putting the two switches between the bass eq and the jack...

EMG DC vs CS vs TW

Looking at replacing the 40P5 in my steinberger (sits exactly where a Stingray 4HH bridge pickup is), with a 40TW. Glad I found this thread. BTW - EMGs solution attached above is exactly equal to the 25K pot solution listed earlier, reducing the dual-coul output by 2/3rds.

USB rechargeable onboard preamp power- Why not more common?

I keep two of these on hand, one in my stingray, the other in the case. I simply swap them every 6 months just like regular batteries, and keep the "spare" charged when I take it out, and just before putting it back in, so it's always ready. Also, I've measured the output...the 9v Lithium Ion...

    Steinberger Club

My 5-string Synapse headpiece failed for non-double-ball strings as many others have, and thought I'd just drop a note that Sweetwater, as an acting repair shop for Gibson, can get the needed SHP-101 part for $96 (as of this posting). I don't know of a 3rd party replacement that is a better...
