Ambitious Musicman Sterling upgrade

Heres what i am considering doing and any thoughts, especially wiring help would be appreciated.

First it is an HH so 2 pickups.

I am replacing the original pickups with Delano Jay-Ray pickups.
I would like to remove the 5 way switch and replace with a 3 way switch. Upper/Both/Lower pickups.

I would also like to put in 2 three way mini on/on/on toggle switches. one for each pickup. to split either one to upper/lower/or both coils. this would need me to drill the holes for these through the control plate. im thinking between the volume pots and between the second volume and the mids pot.

Then to 2 seperate volume controls, one for each pickup.

And then on to a EMG active tone control set consisting of a BTC stacked bass/trebble pot and a VMC stacked variable mid control pot. then to the output jack.

to do this I also have to use the surface mount output jack space for the fourth pot and drill the output jack through the side of the bass.

Well there it is. Comments? Help?

thanks

I just received two on-on switches for my Ray4HH, to add in parallel - serial options. Open the back plate, and take a look between those knobs, the wood makes a little tight depending on the size of the switch body. I'm leaning toward putting the two switches between the bass eq and the jack.

I also really like the Delano pickup, and almost pulled the same trigger, but for now am just having so much fun playing it as-is, I decided to upgrade pickups on another bass instead to compliment the Ray.

The Delano hybrids come with a passive tone control. Will you use that path? I personally really dig the sound of tone controls after the active onboard preamp....just to roll off the top end gently when the preamp is coming across a bit to bright. It's a different type of eq, with different roll off, and I think compliments the active eq for old school jazz sounds that the Delano provides.

Good luck, and take pictures!

Moving jack in the edge of the body is more convenient besides just freeing the space for an additional pot.
I myself would have put the split switches in the pickguard. If you do not have a router, you can use an inch forstner bit to make the switch pockets. Puting all that on the ray control plate is probably too crowded.
Also blend and volume seems like a better control option than the archaic dual volume. Granted dual volume is easier to find the pots for.
