They really did it. They made the IKEA bass.

I started on guitar in 2000, and dabbled over the years. I just decided to try bass about 12 years ago, and found I liked it. Over two years ago, I got serious on learning to be a better bass player. I try to play every day, even if it's just noodling for a few minutes.

1. Whatever came stock on my SBMM Ray4. I really disliked them. 2. D'Addario Half Rounds. That was the set I used to replace the Ray4 stock strings, and two strings went dead within a few weeks.

You wired it in parallel, which will reduce the output. The standard wiring on a SUB is series. However standard wiring on an EBMM Stingray is parallel. To wire that pickup in series, solder black to "IN", connect red and white, and solder green and silver to "GND". Also, that's an Alnico...

This is probably the answer I was looking for as to what these basses are really worth.

This is my point, and the reason for my question. What's so special about the '63 Fender P Bass in this condition that warrants asking $24,000 for it? Is there something about it? Did they not make that many? Or, is this priced for someone who has more dollars than sense, knowing other people...

I was poking around Reverb and found this. I don't understand why it's worth so much. If it had some provenance, like it was owned by Duck Dunn or Steve Harris or someone, or was played on a well-known record, I could understand the asking price. But, this seems like they're asking waaaaay too...

A lot. It was a big improvement immediately. I put it a Delano MC 4 AL, and wired it in parallel. I got a lot more clarity and definition.
