When I ordered an 8Pro two years ago list was $2519, posted price was $1699, and I locked one in at $1499. Of course, mine never arrived either.
Estimated street price is $2399, same as the HSVT-CL. Of course, you should be able to get either head for significantly less than that with typical negotiation. The 8Pro's last posted street price was $1799, and of course they never even reached market.

The 8Pro has an MSRP equal to the Heritage SVT-CL ... $3359. That means an increase in the street price for the 8Pro in the $500 ballpark. Ouch.

I think they've been positioning some of the high-end gear in that manner, given it's apparently been next to impossible to track down a new VT or CL even from overseas since last year. But, given the limited production numbers I don't think the overseas versions are going to completely...
I clearly see the point of the strategically worded "Designed and Assembled in the USA" catchphrase. I personally am willing to give these products a legit shot to impress me. My SVT-VR from Vietnam is an awesome head, and much prefer it over the USA SVT-CL and USA 6Pro that I owned prior...
excellent post. I'm fired up looking forward to seeing and hearing the new gear. I'm certain we've all been waiting a very long time for Ampeg to bring new (or "new") gear to the marketplace.
