roll off the neck pickup and its 99.9% like the single hum 'ray. Id only suggest getting the HH if you want the warmth of the neck pickup and lots more variation in tone. I prefer the 3eq H to the HH, but thats IMO.

TBH the P and the 'Ray sound nothing alike. Id suggest going on youtube and searching for P bass and Stingray and checking some videos of people playing them and listening to the tone. it'll give you a rough idea. From what you've said id say definatly go for the 'ray. OR, if you prefer...
