Squier Vintage modified FL jazz. If you' re looking to test the fretless waters........this has to be the best bang for your $$.

Currently own a fretless SX 62 Jazz copy...previous to that, a fretless Sterling and a Fender 62 Jazz RI 'frankenbass' with a fretless Moses neck, J Retro, Barts, and Schaller bridge (and yes, I should NEVER have sold it! but divorce....).

Count me in with my newly acquired '77 Ripper.

Have been working with it for a week w/o fretlines your ear has to tell you where you are.
Using an inline tuner to start on pitch and then working relative from there.

Thinking about adding a Piezo for a more Standup sound and stringing to Pyramid Gold Flats.

Neck- '78 Fender Precision w/ curly maple fretless board. I gave the neck's back a satin finish with #0000 Steel wool.
Body - '05 Fender Highway 1 Upgrade w/polished thin nitrocelluse lacquer finish.
Color - Crimson Transparent (discontinued)
Pickups- Jason Lollar 60s P.bass. DC resistance:10.7k.Ohms/ 5.4 H
Electronics - USA Fender CTS pots. AVRI 62 wiring specs. w/ 0.1 uf Orange drop capacitor
Tuners - USA Fender '75 RI
Bridge - USA Fender '75 RI
Pickguard - '78 Fender B/W/B
Hardware - Fender AVRI '62 w/ 70s RI neck plate & pad.
Strings - Fender Stainless Steel Flatwounds ML 050.065.085.100
Nut - Genuine bone
Weight - 7.9 lbs fish scale

Pros - Looks lovely - credit goes to TBr Bone, he buffed/polished the HWY 1 satin body finish. What the camera won't show is the alder wood grain through the original Crimson Transparent nitro finish. The polished finish really brought out the wood grain. Sound - imagine the sound of a AVRI '62 P-bass with a maple fretless board.

Cons - None

Not FS/FT.. This one is staying with me.

We should start a '78 fretless P bass club, lol. Mine's sunburst with rosewood board, heavily modified over the years. I'd be lost without it.
