    the new bassist(my replacement)(help)

Don't lose your cool, mate. If you trust in your own skills, show it to your guitarrist friend. If he still prefer the new "phenomenal" guy, no problem! You can try your luck in another band, made up with other friends. Tip: Try saying your friend you would like to see a new guitarrist...

    Not Good Live Bands

I remember seen DragonForce at their debut on OzzFest... That was a shame. They are known just because of their fast-licky guitars... but that show sucked so much, I could even hear the bass lines louder than those lazy guitars... There's a thing I must say, though: The keyborder is a high...

    12 songs enough?

My band do a mix of heavy and classic rock. So, sometimes we wanna change the set, all we do is play any Dream Theater's Metropolis pt.2 song. Although a lot of those songs demand a prior knolegdement at bass and bass lines, it makes the crowd happy and time goes off faster. :hiding:

How many metal bass players use a 6 string or more?

I've got a Ken Smith 6-string, wich sounds like hell whenever I wanna play heavy metal or any kind of rock'n'roll. I must say that an amp can make a whole difference, though. I could use a G&L and play it through a Galleon Krugger and still, it would sound heavy and "cozy" for metal beats.

Is there really a NEED to own a four string bass?

I like my 5's and 6's It's all about what you want to play, and how does a particular bass sounds to you.

Dumbest thing I've ever been told at a gig. Ever.

"Why your band has three guitar players? Isn't just two enough?" - A silly drummer asked the form up of my band, after a few bottles of brandy. "Well, that guy overthere is our bassist" - Answered our singer. The drummer didn't, actually, hear anything we've played, but his knowledges through...

Tru-Oil and Wax'd my Stingray neck....

Totally agree. I'm not sure if those "oils" would help cleaning or making it harder to run my left-hand on the bass neck. :rollno:

Songs for Drums, Bass, and Keys

Stay away from Coldplay, and still keep on keyboards, drums and bass? Have you ever thought about jazzy classics? Like Stevie Wonder, Wooten and even Jaco? Yeah, influences here are really different, but at least you would keep some great contact with the "gods" [:)]
