    Mohini Dey, Danny Sapko, AI

I would hope, with the musical vocabulary I assume she has, that AI in the hands of a professional musician such as her, some "neutral ground" can be established between the use of AI and actual artistry (AA?). Seems we'd better learn a compromise, lest the whole situation turns into 100% robot...

    Boutique Cabinet Resale

^ My view as well ^ Current guitarist just dumped his amp for a Helix system (why yes, it is divine!). Drummer wrapped his kit in plexiglass. Now I sit with a 12" floor wedge and a 500 watt TC head as the loudest obnox on stage. I'm probably going to leave the amp at home sooner than later...

What defines a modern "contrabass guitar"?

At first blush, I agree. As I listen to this crafty young man, He's clearly stating his aim was to stop playing in unison with 7-8 string guitars in "metal"/ "death metal" genre's and experiment with playing an octave lower. A bit "out there", for sure, but in a high energy, wall of live sound...

    Sadowsky Metroexpress Preamp: Someone explain?

Yep- not knocking the upgraded pre, just saying, if you invest, feel free to hang for a few weeks to soak in the instrument's excellence, allow the funding department to take a breath, then proceed casually to elevate the instrument to the next level by purchasing the VTC. It's an organic...

Venue wanted to dock us for not playing in the rain -- we walked

Short answer: Show them the inclement weather clause in the contract. They hand you a check.

    MTD Artist 4

Nicely done! I had a similar experience dealing directly with DJ earlier this summer. Just the best. Wish everyone operated like them. Very nice instrument - enjoy!

is it OK to put thread locker on schaller s lock strap lock?

Nah, just use it as designed. Snug the nut hand tight, then torque it down using the shaft of a small jewelers flat blade screwdriver (roughly 1-1.5mm diameter) inserted into the offset hole drilled through the edge of the knurling on the nut. Once torqued to your satisfaction, turn screwdriver...

    Ya, Oops. Highs, Lows.

    Sadowsky Metroexpress Preamp: Someone explain?

No. Simplest way to explain, The preamp can be bypassed or turned on. When turned on, you can only boost highs and mids. There is no conventional "tone" control, because it only boosts = you cannot reduce the highs at all, as you might expect with a conventional passive bass tone control...

Do you mostly play passive or active basses?

How unfortunate. I cannot imagine what went wrong. I've never even had a battery fail mid gig. 60+ shows a year as of late with nothing but blissfully pure tone the whole time. What kinds of issues plagued you so badly?

Do you mostly play passive or active basses?

I've converted everything I own to active. I play them into preamp pedals. I honestly do have preamps on preamps. There - I've admitted it. I'm aggressively avoiding passive.

Are IEM Receivers Interchangeable with Other Brands?

^ I agree. I just burned a solid grand for an updated Sure system and still having dropouts and regular interference issues. Re-scanning every venue is a must. I shudder to think of showing up to a gig using an odd mix of brands, given the virtual traffic jam of the airwaves these days.

Stubborn lacquer won’t come off my Squier neck despite sanding with 80 grit

I have, as of late, begun the gray scotch wool process. Love the feel as compared to the glossy, sticky feeling neck. And yes, I get through about a change of strings and it's ready for another treatment. But, to the casual observer, there's no visual effect at all, given the original finish...

Stubborn lacquer won’t come off my Squier neck despite sanding with 80 grit

Yes, reserve the 200+ for in between clear finish coats. In the end, I think it's inevitable that some contrast between the poly and oil is just going to be there. No matter how much toning you do, an oil is going to tone differently than a film-forming topcoat. Think of a well worn upright -...

Stubborn lacquer won’t come off my Squier neck despite sanding with 80 grit

I gave up on paint stripping products years ago. There is a direct correlation between the strength of them decreasing due to environmentally unfriendly ( effective) components being declared dangerous and being removed from these products, as the clear coats increased in strength, like acid...
