Been a traditional bass player for 35 yrs and have not gotten into synth bass much. Always had a keys player to handle these parts. Now we are delving more into these old school sounds to replicate some 80’s tones such as Kenny Loggins Danger Zone and Michael Jackson’s PYT. Technology today has...

    Need some advice!! On PUPs

Okay I just picked up a very nice MIM Fender Jazz 5'er. I love how it plays and it will be a great back up for my '73 Jazz. However It does NOT sound like my '73 Or my MIJ Geddy Lee. I LOVE that sound. I'm looking for the USA Vintage Single Coil P/Ups and I looked on EBay craigslist, numerous...

    Is an 810 worth it?

I agree with everything you stated here. Everyone has a different situation and play either the same venue or many varying venues. It's definitely what works for the individual. What I love about TB is we can share our experiences and opinions about how we view all these issues and deal with...

    Is an 810 worth it?

I have 2 8x10's I use and when I have a small venue I use one. If the backline is the main source of sound for the mix, even if the volume is low, I get great punch and sound and I can EQ my tone to maximize punch, highs and lows at the lower volume. The big issue IMO is just the sheer size. If...

    best modern tube amp.

Hey Rezdog, I don't see Traynor down in GA. I've heard good things about those amps. I'll have to do some research. I like my Shuttle. U also have a MarkBass LMT800. I like a tone that cuts through very clear on the highs. How's that Traynor handle the high freqs? Also do you get any mud at...

    best modern tube amp.

I currently use the Genz Benz Shuttle 9.0. At 4 ohms I get 900 watts of power. With 2 8x10 cabs I can ay anywhere at any volume. The beauty of the amp is that it only weighs 4 lbs!! It delivers great tone and clarity.

In search of alternative to Akai SB-1

I'm looking for an effect that can emulate what muse's bass player did on Uprising. The Akai SB-1 he uses I cannot find. Anyone know of a good effect pedal or board that will emulate that well?
