Definitely don't need to go overboard volume wise but need to be able to hear myself when singing 15 feet from my rig and want to keep the 1x10's as well, since they are perfect for NYC club gigs. Should have mentioned that.

To put it into perspective, short scales were used by McCartney, Bill Wyman, Ronnie Lane, Jack Bruce (though i could be wrong on which EB model he played, he did start with a Dano) and a ton of other great players. Definitely try one out and see how you like them. But be careful, sometimes...

Butchblack: Thanks for the response. I'm using a GK 800RB now. I used to use a SVT-CL with a 6x10, loved the head, but the cab never had enough low end umph for me. I like feeling the bass behind me - ala 2x15's, but am also looking for portability, that why the 2x12 interests me.

Can i ask a silly question since I have no experience with these cabs....the 2x12's, is it somewhere btwn a 1x15 and a 4x10 cab? in other words, can you use it by itself? I am super interested in these cabs but have never payed through one. thnx
