    Hagstrom 8 string bass

Well, those are the two iconic promo shots I was thinking about, one where he's stepping out of the out-house and the other where he's wearing clown shoes. There's also a shot of the Experience and he's playing it so it must have been right handed at that time. I also have a photo of the three...

    Hagstrom 8 string bass

In that iconic promo-shot of Jimi Hendrix bassist Noel Redding holding the Hagstrom H8, is it strung up left handed?

    Joe Osborn's mystery 8-string bass... ?

I don't think that was his bass. You can definitely hear it on the recording, and then I noticed that the song was written by Jimmy Webb and I recognized that name on the case of a H8 being offered on ebay, so I'm just guessing here, but maybe JO was borrowing it for the session.

    Framus Star and Bill Wyman

I think Wyman is under rated or maybe overshadowed but at any rate what a great bass tone. He endorsed Framus basses and owned at least three of them. The one in that video has a small body about the size of a Les Paul. I've heard that finish called a ''humbug finish.'' I don't know why, but up...

Why do so many people in the music industry pronounce "Rickenbacker" incorrectly?

Hofner, Eko, and my favorite, how many presidents have you heard say "nukuler"?

    Setup for Hofner V62

First make sure the neck is straight, then lower the strings until they buzz a little, then raise them back up just until don't. Now you can check the intonation-harmonic on the 12th and/or the 19th fret should match the fretted note. The bridge should be about a half inch or so behind the...

    Ampeg SVT-cl serial numbers

I just bought a used svt with matching cabinet so of course one of the first things to do is look up the serial numbers, and to my surprise the last four digits are the same. Does that mean that they are a matched pair?

What to look for when buying a vintage Rickenbacker.

Is the original finish still under there? Can the refinish be removed without harming the original finish?

    Rickenbacker Set Up

If the neck has a forward bow the action will be high. I've always adjusted the truss rods by first loosening the strings and the truss rod nuts, then give the neck a gentle push back while I re-tighten the nuts. Go slowly and check your progress by aiming down the neck each time. When the neck...

    Rickenbacker bridge

They are there to dig into your palm as you mute the strings. Don't get me wrong, I love my rickies but I remove those knobs and replace them with screws that are'nt so in the way.

How to intonate; open/12th or 5th/17th?

Hi MPU Happy new year. I have imtonated a lot of guitars and basses. Basically what your'e doing is compensating for the amount you pull the string sharp when you press it down to the fretboard. If your action is high you set the intonation longer and vice versa. So the first thing to do is...

New old amp day! Ampeg V4 question

I've had a v4b for thirty-some years and I'll never let it go. Just wait 'till you stack it on top of an 810 cab!

    firearms as a hobby

My wife add I enjoy "Cowboy Action Shooting". You dress up as cowboys(or cowgirls)and shoot pre-1900s rifles revolvers and shotguns at steel "bad guys". It's a lot of fun. Both of my daughters found that long skinny Christmas gift under the tree when they were in their early teens...
